Paypal Reversals - Completely devestated!

I don't get it. I follow all the steps and I still get screwed over. I recently had a tranasaction where 5 days after the items is sent the money is reversed. Paypal did not even contact me information i.e tracking number etc... etc.. I spent hours on the phone trying to solve it. Paypal won't even respond to my E-mails, the buyer will not respond to my E-mail. I can't even leave negative feedback! I'm out $150.00 (290295594557, 290296388321, 300287937288) and am in tears. I just don't understand why or how paypal can do this?! They tell me payment is fine and then they don't even support me afterwards. I mean they should be going to the bank and fighting them for the money not simply saying to bad it didn't work out and taking it from my account. Even worse is this customer is now thinking they can get away with it.... I can't believe I can't even leave negative feedback warning other sellers and buyers! What would you guys do or suggest I do to recieve some justice?
Sincerely,
Alyson

Did they give a reason for the reversal. Such as item not delivered, unauthorized credit card or something.

You should have received something.

I received an E-mail in the morning saying the buyers bank account was closed, so they reversed the transaction (literally 5 days after the transaction closed.) However on the paypal site they did not allow for any information to be entered i.e tracking for proof of delivery. I spent atleast an hour on the phone taking to a representative, and they said it should be solved within 4-5 hours that she would contact me but never did.

I will email you back within the next 4-5 hours confirming the status of
the reimbursement from the buyer.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I had similiar problem with a reversal after 18 days. It took dozens of phone calls, moving up the paypal management chain, until I finally was returned funds over 100.00 US. The return took six weeks. They also promised but never returned my voice messages for weeks. The system has become slanted to screw over sellers and I believe it will get drastically worse as buyers realize FREE bay is for them!

What a crock! Other than the feedback issue which is actually meaningless (and always has been) there has been no changes at PayPal to make it any easier for a buyer to scam a seller with a bogus claim. In fact in most situations sellers have more protection now than they did a few years ago.

Because you haven't provided proof of delivery to PayPal. When you do you should get your money back presuming you followed all the other requirements.

My post #6 was directed at post #5, the requirement to prove delivery has been around almost since day one of PayPal, the threat of negative feedback has not and never will make any difference to a scammer.

OP your situation sounds like one of the mystery bank reversal things that have been happening for the past year or two. In most cases the buyer is totally unaware of the situation. You just need to keep following up with PayPal BY TELEPHONE, just keep saying "agent" until you get a real person and if they don't clear it up move up the chain to a customer service supervisor.

If it came from the buyers bank account wouldn't that make it a Paypal echeck payment? Paypal would have sent you an email telling you to hold off on shipping until the payment cleared the bank account?

Instant payment, from bank account, backed by credit card, the bank funding fails, the back-up credit card fails.

On the other hand, there are the phantom bank reversals.

In both situations if you have all your ducks in a row you can win these.

In the phantom case the buyer might really be an innocent party.

First of all, paypal did not allow me to put proof of delivery in. I had to contact them and ask what the hell was going on. So after an hour on the phone with them she asked me to e-mail her the tracking number because the case was closed without allowing me to upload any information. She said it may be a problem because she was not a confirmed address? It was directly put into my account no e-checks no delayed payment. Payment went through... It was sitting in my account (green ligth to mail it right?) I'm not blaming the buyer, I am fuming at paypal. They won't even return my messages. Who knows, maybe paypal or an employee reverses it back to their account? Maybe it's a scam. Who can you trust anymore really??

Well lets defend paypal " what a crock" the OP is right recped all paypal has to do is protocol a reversal to show in disputes instead they take a lets lie (sic) low and maybe sellers will not notice reversal. Forcing sellers to spend wasteful time pursuing their funds. Recped if all sellers had to do was supply proof and so on, why are the reversals not protocaled to allow this ? Since they are not how do you justify this ? These reversals do not show up in disputes you only notice it by scanning individual pages or noticing your balance drop. I have seen a number of posts where this has happened to others after I had it occur to me. You can cheerlead all you want but this is a deceptive business practice whether by intent or neglect to allow for a dispute resolution protocal. Given that a large majority will first not notice and thost that do only a few will have the patience to follow up endlessly to get their funds it allows paypal loss mitigation at the sellers expense.

glossygirl83 I would encourage you to stay after paypal move up the food chain , make sure you have all your documentation in order, so on. I eventually won but found the experience distasteful and their attitude and behavior completely ignorant and lacking any recognition of customer care. Took me 6 weeks but I got my 137.00 US returned.

My comment had nothing to do with PayPal. It was in reference to to comment...

I believe it will get drastically worse as buyers realize FREE bay is for them!

There has been no change whatsoever that would lead to this conclusion. Buyer Protection has been around for years, dishonest people have been aware for years that the system can be "worked". This has been true long before PayPal ever existed, to suggest that for some undetermined reason buyers will suddenly and dramatically increase the frequency of fraudulent claims is just silly.

These reversals do not show up in disputes you only notice it by scanning individual pages

I've not heard of one single instance where PayPal has not notified users when a reversal or hold has been placed on their account. It certainly not the case in this situation.

I am not a defender of PayPal and I would prefer not to use them. However, if you are going to utilize their service you need to play by their rules, if you do you can be protected, if you don't you're on your own and have lost the right to complain.

Well as much as I would like to agree with you recped... I don't because Paypal is a monopoly. Isn't it convenient that E-Bay bought out paypal? Paypal does NOT care about their patrons. Because yes, they should be treating as as loyal customers!! They profit off our accounts and all our business the least the could do is defend us against banks and other fradulent cases.

I've not heard of one single instance where PayPal has not notified users when a reversal or hold has been placed on their account. It certainly not the case in this situation

I never said I didn't get an E-mail (Oh I got a lousy E-mail saying it was reveresed, but no solution to fix the problem, nor are they even trying)

I really don't get what your problem is. I came asking for help. I did not want a discussion on how you think paypal is so fantastic.

The fact is paypal tends to wash their hands of anything when it comes down to problems. What would you like me to do... Contact the bank that cancelled the payment and see what they can do?!?! That's ludacris. The fact is I can't count on Paypal!

I did play by there rules
I did have my tracking information
What didn't I do right?

I don't want to hear any more crap about how great they are, I just want to learn how to fix the solution. Geeze

glossygirl83,

I have had that happened to me and Paypal sided with Buyer. Now whenever there is a problem, I am always sure I will not get anything and paypal will take my money and side with buyer. All paypal did in that case was just take away the payment without any notice or anything. I gave them tracking details and they said something wrong with the payment from the buyer bank. Why did they accept it in the first place is what I dont understand ? Its like they are promoting it so we (sellers) can get screwed. Why was buyer able to send money? (beats me)

I hope you are making some money on ebay. Its getting very very hard with the rules that always/most of the time goes towards buyers and buyers can just take sellers for a ride. To add insult to injury we cant give negative feedback to alert other sellers. why cant ebay let us leave negative feedback in case we file a dispute for non payment ?

Have to agree bestbranddeals I also had reversal after 18 days for 137.00 US, Paypal gave me no specific or alert notification. Just reversal in my account at least glossygirl got an email. Glossygirl do not give up calmly threaten small claims action , get a supervisor and keep on them make sure you have all your docs. If they refuse to refund politely request a written reason for they unwillingness to so you can include it in your litigation. It costs 100.00 and some time in small claims but paypal would need representation and just not worth their while easier and more economical to give you your funds. I am convinced that paypal does this to mitigate losses by off loading burden to sellers. Banks will do same thing I once had a substantial NSF reversal in my business account for large cheque from a company that went bankrupt the bank reversed funds after 12 days. The company paid me and some others then entered bankrupcty. I happen to know that by Canadian Banking Act funds in your acccount cannot be reversed after this amount of time. Once I think it was 5 days might have been seven {as long as no fraud involved) it becomes the account holder funds.
. The bank tried to bluff their way through the reversal but had to return the funds . But if I had not been alerted to my rights the account manager would have succeeded in BSing me to mitigate banks loss when in fact they should have pursued the issing bank but was just easier to try and blunder my account. I did get all the funds returned to my account but only because I did not cave in and I had the law on my side. I sympathize with you I found the worst part of the 137.00 reversal was the absolutely shoddy treatment I received from paypal their first reaction was I had done something wrong. IN fact I had followed all the rules.

Is it to late to file a non-payment dispute with ebay, because you did not receive payment for your item. Then you would at least get the FVF back, and they would get a non payment strike, just thought I would ask.

Or is that something that you guys think is dumb?

Glossy....if it's a US buyer do what we did last month when some jackass tried to scam us out of $400!

First, contact US Postal and file a mail fraud case (easy to do on their website). Second, email the buyer and let them know you will be contacting the local Police. We received payment less than a week after doing this...if this person is trying to scam you don't sit back and wait for Paypal to help.
