PowerSeller Welcome Package -- Your thoughts

Hello PowerSellers,

eBay.ca sends out a Welcome Package to new Power Sellers via postal mail. Some of you may remember receiving them. A thread about the welcome package was started in the selling discussion board. I thought we should bring the topic to the experts. We would love to hear your thoughts on the following:

1. Did you like receiving the Power Seller welcome package?
2. Does the content and information in the welcome package helpful and valuable to you as sellers?
3. How can we improve the welcome package?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and look forward to hearing them.

Cheers,
::laird

Content? If I remember correctly, it was a poorly printed certificate (looked like it had been erased and overprinted too many times), a newsletter and some odd business cards.

Now, add in a pen, a PS mug and a Tshirt, and you might have something!

I think that Catseye is right. It was nice to receive but not much of a gift. I bought a Pin Case at eBay Live and they gave me a PS Mug from the Powersellers Store.

I was looking forward to receiving it and it's a little disappointing when you get it.

I am still waiting for mine. I have been a PS'er for over a year now and have never received anything from E-Bay, other than an e-mail telling me I was going from Silver to Bronze status.:-(

I am sorry I have too agree as well . What I got was a certificate that was printed so poorly . That I would never place it on the wall

Becoming a powerseller should include

1)Certificate ~~~Clean crisp
2)Bumper Sticker
3)Info about being a powerseller
4)Keychain
5)Pen
6)Mouse pad
7) Sticker from 10-10969 ~~discount phone service cause we all know we have to call American's

Total Cost ?? About $15.00

I think that you'll find that the general concensus is that we feel underappreciated. Why you ask? Well, when we all hear the great things that our US and UK PowerSeller counterparts get, we wonder what we have to do to get a bit of that? Move to the US? T-shirt would be nice, business card holder maybe. Hey, I bet a PS mug would go a long way in morale around here. Heck, I'd settle for a semi-regular constructive Pink presence on this board.

Nope, we get a smudged certificate, a bumper sticker, some peel-n-rip pseudo business cards and a Canada Post discount program no better than one could get themselves through the Venture One program.

In summary, guess which mug belongs to us...

Like everyone else, I received the rather small certificate. Personally, I don't need another mousepad, a keychain or a bumper sticker. The one thing I would find useful is a nice golf shirt with the eBay logo tastefully printed around or near the pocket. I present pro bono "antique road-show" style programs for seniors groups, churches, and non-profit organizations, and it would be nice to show off an eBay connection. A pen to go in the pocket would be nice, too. ......... Michael

What package? Where is mine? I think T-shirts, sweaters with the logo and business cards or thank you cards that we can use and send to our customers are some of the things I like to see. Oh, ask CP to drop their small packet price to US and allow us to mail non metal items as over-size letters if it's less than 20mm thick!!!!!

I have to agree with everyone else ... the certificate and cards were poorly printed and the newsletter was more suited to beginning eBayers than powersellers. Something a little more substantial would certainly make us feel more valued.

Fenian, you could wear your t-shirt from "On the Road" for golf - I do!! (You'd have to put your own pocket on it, though 😞 ) Some eBay Fridge magnets might be something to consider as well as the above, although nothing would replace a PSer mug - I'd actually enjoy using that and would probably show it off! Also, an eBay store similar to the US with a PSer department would be nice, especially if we could order, reasonably, things like fridge magnets or small calendars, or pens, imprinted with our eBay ID to give away to good customers, would be a win/win thing! Especially if the S&H was within reason.

I would suggest offering discounts for becoming members of the Powersellers for our listings on Ebay (ex. Bronze: -2% discount, Silver -3% discount, Gold -5% discount,etc.). This would probably encourage sellers to list more.

I would prefer this more then receiving a mug or mouse pad.

A free listing day (using some kind of coupon code?) for each PS, repeated annually on anniversary or birthdays. And yes, the certificates looked a little cheap. I didn't keep mine.

llee2 - LOL

I received the same dull and boring package as llee2, I think I had 2 pins in there as well that I gave to some friends that collected the things hoping they wouldn't just be tossed...

I was so excited that afternoon to have received a package from eBay too...right up until I actually opened it..it was about as exciting as a tax return...and the information as mum stated would have been more useful to be when I first created my account.

I didnt receive a bumper sticker but a window decal which was a complete waste of money because what good is a sticker that you stick on from the inside of your window when your windows are tinted?

The cheap little thank you cards were neat though, I think you should focus more on this route and give new PS's more tools that will actually help improve their eBay marketing skills. This would also be much more cost effective than shirts and mugs.

Some more information in this area would nicely replace the newsletter and other useless print I received.

And the certificate DEFINATLY NEEDS TO LOOK LIKE A REAL CERTIFICATE. I didn't even need to think twice about whether I should display it on my wall with the rest of my certificates and awards or toss it in the trash.

I hope some of this feedback will prove useful to you!

Powersellers will never get a volume discount from eBay. It does not promote a level playing field among sellers. I like the idea but it will never fly with eBay.

Access to the PS store would be nice.

The excuses I get (as to why we can not access) are not even well thought-out.

I can buy from the regular store, but cannot get access to the PS store. Therefore, it has NOTHING to do with where they are willing to ship, since obviously they WILL ship to cAnada.

come on guys, get on it!! All we need is ACCESS!! Nothing to do with being in Canada, or Canadian credit cards or....

I remember when I got my PS package. I thought at the time it was nice to get until I opened it and saw my user id was wrong. The ID read aleroo when it should have been alero0. I emailed someone at ebay (I don't remenber who) and got a quick response saying they were sorry and a new package with the right spelling would be sent to me. Well its been about a year and I'm still waiting.

I got nothing... but that's the way I like it. Save the $4 worth of crappy plastic junk and improve service and lower fees.

(yeah, right.)

I agree with the feeling unappreciated comments above. Aside from the title and the support from PS support when in need what else is there?

The certificate is not worth putting on the wall.
I never used the blue cards either.

"Why you ask? Well, when we all hear the great things that our US and UK PowerSeller counterparts get, we wonder what we have to do to get a bit of that? Move to the US? T-shirt would be nice, business card holder maybe. Hey, I bet a PS mug would go a long way in morale around here. Heck, I'd settle for a semi-regular constructive Pink presence on this board." YES, YES, YES!!!

Access to eBay shop and PS section should be a given and getting stuff shipped at a reasonnable rate is a must. We really don't need it before coffee the next morning like in the past. Why should the shop get to charge US$10.00 to fill International forms? this is ridiculous. Access to Canadian ebay items would be nice as well we promote eby.com more than we can eBay.ca... you made it that way...
