Sooo . . . . when I don't meet my Power Sellers quota this month (surprise, surprise) do I have the month of March to prove myself again and catch-up? Wasn't there talk of a yearly average? or is it still every 3 months? Just wondering ?:|

Watch that listings graph peak again when we (boycotters) flood the market with 3 day listings that will end before the 29th:^O

Hi Miriam

You still have not replyed to my request.

Is there any way that we as Canadian Power Sellers can get a meeting or round table discussion with Ebay.ca as the US Power Sellers have had reciently ????

I think that this would provide more information than the boards and help us to understand how the new changes will affect Canadian Power Sellers better.

I know this a a big undertaking but needs to be done.

This has never been done for Canadian Power Sellers and I think myself personally the time has come.

We have only interacted through the boards and it seems like Canadian Power Sellers are missing the boat on this one compared to our US counterparts.

This needs to be done now not in 3 months.

Other words if you build it they will come.

If you can setup a date I will be there and take time from my business be there even on a days notice.

Did anyone notice in the feedback in a seller's My World that if a person leaves a negative it reads "Complaint" in big bold eye-catching red letters?

What are they going to do next? Make us stand in a corner with a Dunce cap? C'mon eBay. Such tactics are condescending and ridiculous. That and pointing out a seller's low rating for shipping in red letters. It seems like a very negative approach to take to try to make sellers improve performance. A little praise goes a long way but pointing out someone's shortcomings for all the world to see will just make sellers go away.

Let's see some POSITIVE changes.

I have read on other boards that ebay is doing 10,000 test autions an hour to manipulate the listing stats. Does anyone know more about that? I'll try and find a link. Karen.

Hi fitzheuen,

I have proposed the idea of a Canadian PowerSeller meeting here in the office, and it was well received on first blush. We're now in the process of figuring out if we can secure the resources and budget to make it happen. As you probably know, we're an extremely small office here in Toronto - anytime we consider doing an event like this, we need to rebalance our resources accordingly. I'll back to you as soon as I know.

Cheers,

Miriam

FYI, I got confirmation regarding the delivery confirmation criteria for releasing 21-day PayPal holds.

In Canada, delivery confirmation cannot be used as a criteria to release a PayPal hold. However, if you are a Canadian seller who lists on ebay.com and your inventory is located in the US, you can use delivery confirmation on US domestic shipments to release a PayPal hold (provided you meet the shipping criteria spelled out here: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/update08/rewardsfaq/index.html).

I realize this would only apply to a very small group of sellers, but thought I would share in case this information is of benefit to anyone here.

Cheers,

Miriam

Why is my UPS signed confirmation of delivery valued less than that of an American sellers?

Hi whoscloset,

Er, it's not personal, believe me. It's a technology issue from what I understand - Canada is on the wrong API when it comes to feeding the data to PayPal to release the hold.

Miriam - API stands for Application Program Interface which has nothing to do with what you are saying so check your facts first. An API is a program code that is written to interface one system to another.

You expect us to believe that USPS, UPS and FEDEX all use the same API -- ya right - why not just tell it like it is and that eBaY USA does not want to do the work to link the CanadaPOST information into the PAYPAL system or at least tell us that it is CanadaPOST that does not want to do the work - something we would actually believe.

How is it that I can print a CanadaPOST Label in ebaY and use the tracking number generated to track the parcel via the USPS website. So what you want us to believe is that CanadaPOST and USPS can integrate their tracking numbers but CanadaPOST and PAYPAL cannot -- YA OK sure thing Miriam - aha ok.

We are not all as gullable as you think we are.

This is a perfect example of the misinformation that eBaY likes to feed us through you - if this is what the higher ups told you then tell them they are full of $%iT and to stop lying - a simple honest answer is all we ask for and not a load of crap.

I can't believe this freaken company and how they continue to treat us like fools.

As a side note Miriam - how about setting up another CanadaPOST session where we can address some of our concerns surrounding the new rules and get it from the horses mouth as to what CanadaPOST will be doing and/or is prepared to do to assist us Canadian sellers using their services.

Given the new changes, there is noway using CanadaPOST will enable any seller to be competitive with our US counterparts - does CanadaPOST even know about the changes being made - about DSR levels and what they mean to sellers???

Perhaps the rep from CanadaPOST can shed some more light on your API statement that Canada is on the wrong side.

PS - if you look up EDI or Electronic Data Interchange it was invented here in CANADA so Canada is actually a pioneer in this area definately on the forefront of EDI and always has been. Just so you know your facts!

Dear futuretech_liquidations,

Yes, I know what API stands for. I did indeed check my facts and the answer is correct. The particular API call needed to pass this information to PayPal does not exist on the eBay International API (it does exist on the eBay.com one).

I will pass your suggestion for a Canada Post session along to Lilybean, who manages our Canada Post relationship.

Regarding the Expanded Seller Protection program, I understand that the effective date for this is in flux.

Apparently US Powersellers are currently able to enroll in this program via links available in the PayPal Security Center. I've tried but I'm not seeing the same links which I presume is because I have a PayPal Canada account.

The original announcement stated....

PowerSellers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France and Hong King are eligible to register for expanded PayPal seller protection for transactions on eBay and paid through PayPal

Hopefully we will be able to register prior to the start of the program.

Hi Miriam can you explain this situation to us?

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcollect2000

90,000 clocks for sale from one seller?? Is it a hack in of Ebay's site, Listings being padded to keep stock price afloat, more tests? Or do we believe that this guy really has 90,000 clocks listed at one time? Waiting for an answer Miriam.

I could post a few more examples of this if it helps. My favourite one is the powerseller offering 20,000 cases of toilet paper. LOL

Your Spin Miriam, if you would please??

I also like the guy with 70,000 hoes for sale. Cause you never know when you might need one.

Probably a glitch right Miriam. Right?!

Would you have any update on the 200,000 plus test listings ran last week. They were mentioning it on Auctionbytes, but the response from Ebay was kind of thin. Maybe you can help shed some light please.

You know the ones I mean that start SDC and then numbers. the ones no one could bid on and when you checked feedback the Id's changed. Yeah those ones.

I know you want us to be reassured in here. Please comment soon.

I mean you know, it just seems a little odd, the guy with the toilet paper was asking $60.00 a case with 54 dollars shipping. And he posted 20,000 listings of that. Does that seem real??

Hi recped,

Yes, several PowerSellers had trouble signing up for the expanded PS protection. They've stopped sign up for now to fix whatever the problem was - as soon as it's available again, I will let everyone know.

Cheers,

Miriam
