Reported for selling a bad item that wasn't bad.

Hello,

I sell mainly coins and currency on Ebay. Recently I listed an 1835, US half cent. This one is a beauty with nearly perfect, original surfaces and rims. Someone in the 'Coin Community Watch' on Ebay reported me for selling an item that had artificially toned surfaces. My listing was then pulled and I wasn't allowed to re-list it until I stated in my listing that the coin may have been artificially toned. This coin is completely original and I've had other experienced collectors tell me they are baffled as to why anyone would say otherwise. Bottom line is I will likely lose a ton of money on this coin because someone who doesn't have a clue what they're talking about is in a position he/she shouldn't be in.

Is there any mechanism where I can confront my accuser is, or is this clueless person behind a cloak of anonymity?

Do I have any recourse to stop this from happening again?

Thanks.

Hi Peter, can you have the piece graded by one of the recognized grading companies in Canada? If it is valuable it is a cost outlay well worth the investment.

You can always try to sell it on a different type of site or at a coin show. Cash in hand is always better than paypal, especially in dealing with currency that you can't insure of on Canada Post.
