Sales for June, July and August .. if your interested.

Here's how things are going for me. Does anybody else have them same trend in sales?

How these % are made up. Simple math. Take the total # of transactions made for one area (Canada for example) and divide it by the Grand Total of all transactions (Canada, USA, and Other). The same applies to the dollar amount %.

'Other' refers to any country outside North America.

JUNE 2006
---------
% of Transactions :
Canada = 24%
USA = 58%
Other = 18%

Money :
Canada = 21%
USA = 60%
Other = 19%

Everybody was pretty much buying at a level pace. and therefore relatively even numbers with Transactions and Money spent.

JULY 2006
---------
% of Transactions :
Canada = 16%
USA = 58%
Other = 26%

Money :
Canada = 31%
USA = 47%
Other = 22%

This month more Canadians were buying more expensive items than usual.

AUGUST 2006
-----------
% of Transactions :
Canada = 28%
USA = 45%
Other = 27%

Money :
Canada = 28%
USA = 39%
Other = 33%

August shows an increase with overseas countries buying more and spending more.

I don't have the totals yet for September but I am slowly seeing an increase in sales from outside North America. The USA is still the biggest buyer by volume and amount of $ spent. Canadian sales are all over the place but from what I can see from the year to date is that Canadian buyers are buying larger priced items within Canada (perhaps to avoid customs fees) and less likely to buy smaller items from another Canadian and this maybe due to Canada Post's high shipping domestic rates. After all a package that costs me $5.00 to mail to the USA costs me about $12 within Canada.

Later,

Alex.

Dang! The heading should have read YOU'RE not YOUR .. I hate typos.

Also, the reason why I am tracking this more carefully than usual is because I scrapped and saved up some money to advertise my small little biz in an internationally recognized magazine which should be out within the next few days in the December issue (also January and February).

Check out page 154 of Black Belt Magazine of the December issue out soon.

Mine

Canada 2%
USA 40%
Everywhere else 58%

Just rough numbers.

Canadian sales are definitely on the increase (used to be less than 1%) and the biggest mover in recent weeks is Greece.

Greece? Huh. For me it's been the United Kingdom with Spain a close second.

I have always been fascinated with who is bidding on our items. We do get a rather large number of Canadian bidders however, the percentage of Canadian auction winners has always hovered at just under 20%. Of that 20%, the majority is local who takes advantage of being able to pick up and save on shipping. The reality is, the money, the population and the desire to own what we sell is based in the USA. On an aside, here is the top 5 States that we ship to, in order. California, Texas, Minnesota (yes, that one surprised us also), New York and Florida.

Due to the size/weight of most of what we sell, and the fact that we no longer ship surface to International countries (way too many anxious emails), I would estimate that a mere 1-2% of our auctions are won Internationally.
