Search categories... Books>Nonfiction, no Subject.Topic.Options

It has been on eBay.com for several weeks now.

No breakdown for Nonfiction books  into categories for Subject and then Topic

Now this situation is  on eBay.ca

On eBay.ca we have close to 4 million non-fiction books.

Today they are one big pile of nonfiction books  with no division into subcategories in relation to Subject,  and then into Topic.

I do like to follow what is happening with History> Canada.

Now  that search option is gone for me.....

Why?  Why? Why?  no breakdown into Subject and Topic???????

Have contacted eBay  about the problem.

Have sent a message to one of the moderators of the weekly sessions on Wednesday

If this is NOT a glitch it is one big mess  of 4 million nonfiction books on eBay.ca  and over 4.7 nonfiction books on eBay.com

Evidently other Book categories have also been affected  without  a breakdown by Subject

I wonder how many people use the subject options to that extent. I would probably just go to non fiction books and type in World War II or whatever subject I was looking for. I usually like to keep the search fairly broad in case the item is in a different category than what I think it will be in.

On the other hand, my husband does use search in the same way that cumos suggested. So I wonder which way is more common.

It might be worth trying to tell ebay's tech people directly - they're pretty good guys.

Find a story where they invite comments and put the problem in one of the comments.  Bookmark the page to go back to it later.

They DO read them and will sometimes reply.

At least you'll know you've gotten the message through.

Also sent email with comment  to the person  that placed a specific bit of information on this site....

We were never notified this would happen...

First on eBay.com.  now also on eBay.ca

but not the United Kingdom or Australia...

I do not see how they can justify  a situation where over 4 million listings a lumped into one big category....This has got to be a glitch...... 

Search by category has to be an important part of a search on eBay

Most likely a problem between Internet Explorer  8 versus 9  and eBay.

Will be doing more research

I have two computers...

Computer One has IE8

Computer One...does not work on eBay.ca or eBay.com

Computer Two has IE9

Computer Two works on eBay.ca but not eBay.com

Works = Subject and Topic found for nonfiction books

That may be your problem right there.  ebay isn'y optimized for IE anymore and certainly not for the older versions.

Try Firefox or Chrome.

I use Firefox and I am seeing the same thing that cumos sees.
