I had a seller claim an item was authentic and it turns out it was fake. Seller has also withheld feedback so that if I dare to leave negative feedback they will have a way to retaliate. I want to warn others but don't know how to do it without jeopardizing my own good rating.

Ahoy marvy
Feedback blackmail is against eBay policy. Please report this person (see the little place in the email that says...report...) so other buyers and sellers can rest easy.
Have a great day

There is no feedback blackmail going on. Many sellers do not leave feedback for buyers until they receive positive feedback first. It is a seller's choice, - like it or not. No seller owes you feedback. A seller can only leave positive, and if anyone - buyer or seller - leaves a negative remark with a green circle, it can be removed by ebay. I imagine the seller knows this unless he is a complete newbie.
If you want to leave your scathing negative so badly, then go ahead and do it. Keep in mind that your remarks will be a permanent part of your outgoing feedback page, and will say far more about you than it will about the seller. A calm statement of the facts will be more effective, if "warning others" and not punishing the seller is truly your motivation. If you want to see ebay's feedback policy, go here:

Did you return the item? If you have returned the item then the seller will wait until they get the item back. The deals not done until they get their item back.
You're assuming the seller is threatening you.
