Should my label maker be the same make as my scale?

I was thinking of buying the Dymo LabelWriter 4XL thermal label printer. Should I then get a Dymo scale? Does that make things go smoother? Can I have a printer and scale that are from different companies? Brand new to selling here. Oh, and if anyone knows, what would the best small business scale be to go with the Dymo LabelWriter 4XL?

Re: Should my label maker be the same make as my scale?

Unless you can realistically anticipate extremely high volumes of immediate sales, I wouldn't start selling with a thermal label printer and/or matching postage scale. Home inkjet computer, paypal shipping and Starlit kitchen scale from Canadian Tire work for most of us. There are also selling limits imposed on new accounts that will limit your monthly sales to start. My best advice for anyone hoping to start selling on ebay is start small and minimize you're start-up costs.

And welcome to ebay!

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the advice (which I will probably take).

But I still don't know, if if went the more expensive route, if I should be using a matching scale (worried that a different company scale and different company label maker will cause problems).
