The customer could have send me an actual cheque by snail mail and i could have it clear by the bank way before that:)
And paypal has the nerve to charge me a transaction fee?

Please keep in mind, eChecks usually take 7-8 business days to clear when using a Canadian bank account.
Holidays and weekends are not recognized as business days for most banking facilities, which may result in a delay in the bank transactions.
Thanks,
Ashley

Typically, the Canadian buyer's bank account is debited the business day following sending a PayPal echeck, similarly to American buyers.
Yet, PayPal takes seven to nine business days to credit the seller if the buyer lives in Canada and only three to four business days if the buyer lives in the USA.
Since banks on either sides of the border had cleared the money from the buyer's account within a business day (two at most), why is PayPal sitting on our money for an additional week? .

Total Amount: $4.89 USD
Fee Amount: -$0.42 USD
Net Amount: $4.47 USD
Date: Jul. 3, 2008
Time: 08:25:25 PDT
Status: Uncleared (Expected Clearing Date: Jul. 15, 2008)
Note: eChecks work like paper checks and take your bank several business days to process
I've written to my Canadian buyer to let them know of the expected clearing date. They were quite taken by surprise as they have never had to wait that long when sending an eCheck to the States. Thankfully, they understand the shipping delay.

have to email the buyers and explain that I am unable to print the shipping label at paypal till it clears,
That also is strange sometimes I am able to print a label if it's not cleared yet and other times there is no way
what usually happens the buyer thinks it slow shipping,
Paypal is just like any other Bank and love to make $ on other peoples Money, hence the long clearing date lol
Like most things in life, "give with one hand & Take with the other" remember a few weeks back paypal lowered it's fees for Canadian sellers and they made sure we all got a email to let us know
kinda strange no email about the longer clearing dates
:)

eChecks are processed as an EFT transfer. This is not a wire transfer but a group of payments that are electronically transferred to participating depository financial institutions.
The processing of an EFT batch transfer usually takes 7-8 business days to complete, depending on where the transfer is being sent.
Keep in mind, holidays and weekends are not recognized as business days for most banking facilities, which may result in a delay in your banking transactions.
Thanks,
Ashley

Why is potential customer not informed of this?
If people know that they can send an actual paper check via mail and be processed faster, no customer within Canada would use this service and we wouldn't be subject to a service charge, while getting ding on our feedback.
It would be useful for international customer i guess.

When I have used the PayPal instant transfer- or e-check, the money is almost instantaneously withdrawn from my chequing account.
HOWEVER- the seller is told that the funds will take XX days to clear.
Even though I absolutely know that the funds have been withdrawn from my account.
So- what is the difference between an INSTANT TRANSFER and an e-check?
I can't tell the difference. Can anyone here explain the difference?
A customer once made an error- by sending a payment for over $300 by instant transfer. We immediately returned the payment- and they immediately sent another payment by way of credit card. Even though the PAYMENT was correctly refunded- PayPal again attempted to withdraw the funds from our customers account 8 days later. I have the screen shots of this PayPal transactions- and I can't figure out why PayPal would be seeking money for a refunded payment?
We did evrything we could to correct the customer's payment. Had they sent an e-check- would the results have been different?
We no longer accept them- so I don't know. Can anyone shed light on this?
Here is the INSTANT TRANSFER ORIGINAL TRANSACTION
March 9th payment to $320.00
Mar. 9, 2008 Add Funds from a Bank account Failed C$324.99
Mar. 9, 2008 Currency Conversion Completed C$324.99
Mar. 9, 2008 Currency Conversion Completed C$320.00
Mar. 9, 2008 Refund Completed C$320.00 (flagged in YELLOW BAR)
Mar. 9, 2008 Currency Conversion Completed C$320.00
Mar. 9, 2008 Currency Conversion Completed C$324.99
Mar. 9, 2008 Temporary Hold Placed C$324.99
Mar. 17, 2008 Temporary Hold RemovedC$324.99
Mar. 17, 2008 Failed Transfer CompletedC$324.99
Based on this detail- the attempt to withdraw funds was immediate- and when notified of the REFUND- PayPal immediately reversed the procedure.
What no one can explain is why the additional THREE ACTIONS occurred AFTER the REFUND.
So- as a result of the LATER activity- our customer was charged C$40 for the BOUNCED CHEQUING FEE!
PayPal would not address this issue.
Has anyone encountered anything similar?

"The processing of an EFT batch transfer usually takes 7-8 business days to complete"
Someone in your office fed you a load of bull.
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for a Canadian echeck to take longer to clear than an American echeck, quite the contrary. Our Canadian banking system is far more efficient than the American as it involves a much smaller number of banks.
I suggest you go back to your boss' bosses and get a real answer. .

It's too bad we can't pay our PayPal and eBay fees by eCheck.
Perhaps the Ashley and Amanda "fun-time hour" will return and we can see the copy and paste in effect there too.

Perhaps the better choice of words was "not one was familiar with Canadian issues" even if they were part of PayPal Canada staff. That wouldn't be too surprising for PayPal staff, now would it?
Face it, they love taking our money in fees and currency exchange, but gosh darn its tough actually handling our issues or making it easier for us to transfer USD to a USD account.

when the merchant did not collect the money in 5 days, it expired and the funds are supposed to be put back in; but that did not happen, the merchant nor paypal care to tell me about it.
when i called in i was told to sign an affidavit of disputed paypal transaction and send it in. Well, i found the form and fill it out and was ready to send in by email, and then it say please print out the form and send in by snail mail to their Omaha address 😞
Here's another example of a systematic delay by paypal to fowl your complain and make it very difficult and painfully slow to reclaim any money that's yours to begin with.

i refunded the customer $200 yesterday as the item was out of stock, item back in this morning; called up the customer for new payment, customer said he had not receive any refund notice yet thus reluctant to pay up on the new one.
Called paypal and this paypal employee said since the money will go back to his bank account first and then into his paypal crap and advised me to read the paypal policy.
i told me i have the money in my paypal and is refunding him so it has nothing to do with his bank account, he sorts of laugh and said i don't understand, blah blah,...i ended up having to hung up on this ahole.

if the money has already taken out from my account and the buyer does not see it for 3 to 5 days because it's going back to his account first; it wouldn't be right and create mass confusion as to where the money is.
