Actually about a half hour drive away.
We bought a house above the tsunami line, just in case.

"Victoria just had an earthquake!"
Was it really an earthquake or just Ian turning in bed in the middle of the night?

This earth of ours is constantly adjusting...
I live in Winnipeg.. which many centuries ago would have been located at the bottom of a glacial lake... Lake Agassiz.
I can swim... but glacial waters....cold comfort.
Even Lebel place is not safe from change!!!

Or... How about a Comet or two... and not the car..... but that big ball of rock racing toward us.
Imagine what life would be like if there were dinosaurs looking for breakfast... and not just grizzly bears, polar bears, tigers, lions........
Jurassic Park... anyone....

Really was an earthquake.
4.8 in Sydney about 30 minutes from here. Actually that's where Victoria International Airport is.
(Four gates! Two baggage belts! We're in the big time now!)

This morning my neighbor in Tsawwassen said he felt it as well...I slept through the whole experience.

I was at my computer when the earthquake hit. A short small but firm shake. I went to check with my wife who was watching the local 11 pm news and the broadcast crew also noticed the earthquake while broadcasting live and mentioned it.
A few minutes later I did a Google search on "earthquake Vancouver" and one of the first search results was the CBC News twitter feed announcing that an earthquake of 4.8 (later 4.9) had occurred and ended with "More to come". When I read the short tweet (100 characters or less), I had to think twice as to what was meant by "More to come" and soon there were several posts asking if what was meant was more earthquakes or more news on the earthquake. Later CBC News replied on the twitter that it meant "More news to come."

Just another indication in the evolution of planet earth. Gorians, Suzukians and Liz May would blame it on human carbon pollution.
