Hello,
I need your advice please.
A buyer asked me to wait for the payment more than 4 days (actually asking NOT to open a case) and I agreed to wait until Saturday, February 15th (item purchased on February 8th). Today I get a message from Ebay saying a case was open for an unpaid item. I think I might have checked some kind of setting to handle unpaid items for me automatically and have totally forgot about it.
I can imagine my buyer will be frustrated when she sees a case was open. 😞 I sent her a message apologizing for this but what else should I do? I guess I can't close this case until the buyer pays? (Even if I could close it, what if she never pays, I won't be able to open another one and claim my fees back?)
If she pays, will this unpaid case still somehow impact her account?

You did the right thing by apologizing to the buyer who will most likely pay for the item. When he does there will be no strike against him (as recped already replied). If he does not pay then your case is already open and you can proceed with it to recover your fees. I would wait a couple of days beyond the time the buyer said he would pay before closing the case.
You could explain to the buyer that there will be no strike when he pays because obviously that is obviously what he is worried about.
