Hi folks....
I ran across a surprise a couple of weeks ago. Most of my eBay sales are DVD and Bluray - some of them are used. All listings include the verbage "For used DVD and Blu-ray movies that include digital copies, we make no warranty that they are functional."
I think that's pretty self explanatory - quite frankly we have no way to know if any of the digitial copies on used product work, have expired etc.
Customer purchases a used Bluray that included a digital copy. The digital copy had expired so customer contacted us upset that we had ripped them off. We pointed them to the verbage included in every listing. So then they wanted a refund which we said no problem to - they just had to return the product to us and we would gladly issue refund. Customer got even more upset that they had to pay shipping so hit us with negative feedback and very low DSR.
I called eBay customer service and said "look, it's right in the listing - we've offered a refund - it's also in listing that customer must pay return shipping" etc. etc. Got told by eBay that they cannot interfere with customers and their "opinions" on how they think a transaction worked. I explained that previous negative feedback had been removed for similar reasons before and that this isn't anything new - only to get told that the agents who looked at this previously made a mistake and there was no notes to indicate why they removed it previously.
Ended up reaching out to the customer and convinced them to change their feedback (which quite honestly involved me losing a considerable chunk of change over).
So my question is basically - what's the point in posting specific "conditions of sale" when obviously if a customer ignores them, then eBay won't get involved anyways to enforce them?
Thanks for listening - I was very upset to put it mildly....
