In 1999 I with others set up pirate radio station called DRK RADIO.
It was great fun and lasted for about one year.
There was some great djs playing blues to rock pop and a bit of everything.
The djs names were in code so the powers that be did not know who we were.
There was the silver fox
The hairy man
Dj hacker
Billy the kid
Togge
Chris Carroll
And many more.
What I would like to do now is start it again on this board.
You be the dj and find the music video you want to play on YouTube and post a link on here.
You can also post a video of you talking about the song you picked if you like.
And the next posted do the same.
I will get the ball rolling

This was the very first song played at live aid.
Not a great song, but we have to start with something.
Can you do better, please join in.

It’s a cool cool evening. The hush of winter creeps slowly upon us. A time for a crackling fireplace and the silence of the land. Turn down the room lights and savour the Christmas tree, sparkling with tinsel and dressed with memories of times gone by. Pour a glass of scotch and listen to the Erroll Garner classic……

At this time of the year, I tend to reflect on the past. The musicians in this song are all part of a musical heritage that will live on forever.
Roy Orbison - I met him four times over his long career. Early in his career, he was a simple man, amazed at his own success and waiting for the bubble to burst. I met him at the lowest point of his career - a gig at the Belgian Club in Delhi. We sat and talked for an hour before the show. At this point, he had lost his wife. He had lost two of his four sons in a tragic fire. Yet, he was satisfied with his life. He related old stories - all family related and nothing to do with his career. His only regret was that he was away from his family so much. He had a gift and was happy when sharing it. The Wilburys was another amazing time for him. Working with these guys may have been the high point of his life. He was in awe of Harrison.
George Harrison - what can one say. The Beatles added a whole new chapter in music history. George was a simple man who, in spite of his fame and money, loved simple things. He was in awe of his son and dreamed of great happiness for him.
Dylan - another legend. Saw him recently in concert. Not the same guy. The guitar was gone. He had his back to the audience most of the night - preferring to face his band. His already raspy voice cracked and almost disappeared at times. Time to retire Bob.
Jeff Lynn and Tom Petty - two cool guys with tons of talent.
Music history!!

George Harrison….I really admired him. He was the quiet thinker, the innovator. I don’t feel he ever really got the credit he deserved as a musician or a human being.

Lest we forget the true meaning of Christmas. As we sit with our families and enjoy the food, the beverages and the company - give thanks to whomever it is that you are thankful to.

I have never been a gospel music fan, but the Gaither Vocal Band brings a level of musical performance excellence that few other gospel groups can manage. David Phelps has an amazing Irish tenor voice that sends chills down my spine and moves me greatly.

Great words. The tune seems to be in many ways taken from the old song Danny Boy
