Welcome to DRK RADIO

In 1999 I with others set up pirate radio station called DRK RADIO.

It was great fun and lasted for about one year.

There was some great djs playing blues to rock pop and a bit of everything.

The djs names were in code so the powers that be did not know who we were.

There was the silver fox

The hairy man

Dj hacker

Billy the kid

Togge

Chris Carroll

And many more.

What I would like to do now is start it again on this board.

You be the dj and find the music video you want to play on YouTube and post a link on here.

You can also post a video of you talking about the song you picked if you like.

And the next posted do the same.

I will get the ball rolling

This was the very first song played at live aid.

Not a great song, but we have to start with something.

Can you do better, please join in.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

Fat Freddy…..from New Zealand! You do find some cool groups people ….absolute.

Adagio….scerene. I think I’ll play it tomorrow morning having a coffee on the back deck as I watch the deer go back into the woods.

More young people should learn more about classical music. They don’t have to stay with it….but it rounds them out I feel.

For Pavarotti’s last performance…. Nessun Dorma was superb. I miss the pleasure of his voice.

Ave Maria….heard that so often during my childhood in the church. But even now….no longer a member…..the music still stirs me.

Shawshank Redemption: A scene of Mozart's Aria from Le nozze di Figaro…..calms the savage beast.

Where the Wild Roses Grow….your link couldn’t be played in Canada….but I looked it up in another link. Interesting tune.

A funny incident. A couple of weeks ago when the weather was so good I had my morning coffee on the back deck about 7:30 am …..and I was playing this on the outside speakers. The music has crows in the background and as I sat there I was thinking there were more crows than I had remembered. Then I realized that the added crows were in the pine trees just across the field…..they were answering the crows on the disc. When nature joins you in music, it’s very special….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_kKFjwpwqc&feature=related

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

I never could get into U2. Not sure why….they just didn’t click my personal switch.

Frankie I did kind of like. I enjoy music that is combined with world situations, personal triumph or tragedy. I prefer it when music is part of life….delving into the subconscious….asking questions…..bringing emotions to the surface….being a catalyst for change. There is much music like that….but ….I can’t play them here.

One day I'd like to take music and combined with documentary or news footage ......or even a video personally done.....make music videos just for the heck of it all.

Pickett……great memories. They don’t have artists like that anymore. JMPO

Neil Young….met him once through a club owner I worked for. Seemed like a good guy. I never considered him a great vocalist but he wrote a lot about life and the world. I remember a few years back CBC did an interview with him and he said to the interviewer…’would you like to see my antique car collection’? The interviewer thinking that Young and his money had probably amassed an interesting collection of classic cars wanted to see them. So Young took him out in the back field of his home and there all lined up in a neat row were old rusted out cars and pickup trucks, some sunk a foot or more into the ground. He said he sometimes sits in them and writes his music. Antique car collection…..I think I laughed for a week.
