I recently decided to open a store on eBay for the first time. Trying it out for a month first before commiting to a year. Been selliing for over 14 years without one. But can't keep waiting for free promotions & be at eBay's mercy. Anyways thought I might expand to selling to a few more countries that are safe to increase sales. Right now I ship to Canada-United States-United kingdom-France-Germany-Japan-Australia. I have not had any problems with these countries. Heard that countries such as Italy-Spain-Russia were problem countries. What have other long time sellers found? Thanks

Generally speaking, if third-party insurers won't touch it, it's not safe to ship there. Check this: http://delta.u-pic.com/BuyOnline.aspx
I ship worldwide with exclusions. Italy has not posed any problems with me. These are my exclusions and I put some thought into them.
I do use only tracked packet right now so my ship-to countries are limited to those served by Canada Post Tracked Packet and they are as follows:
SHIP-TO LOCATIONS BY TRACKED PACKET ONLY FOR ALL ITEMS WORTH LESS THAN $100 CAD AND WEIGHING LESS THAN 2 KG
Austria
Australia
Belgium
Brazil
Croatia
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Hong Kong
Hungary
Italy
Ireland
Iceland
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malaysia
Malta
Netherlands
New Zealand
Poland
Portugal
Singapore
South Korea
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Turkey
United Kingdom
USA
Turkey is tricky because they have banned paypal payments, meaning your buyer may have trouble submitting payment. I should also note there is a known lag between the countries served by Tracked Packet and the counties included in Paypal Shipping's database. Many of those countries are missing. I conducted my own test recently to see which those still were and that information can be found here: https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Seller-Central/CANADA-POST-TRACKED-PACKET-SERVICE-EXPANDED-TO-31-COUNTR...
You will get many different responses to your question because every seller here has different tolerance for risk based on their category, items, and general disposition. Plus experience there.

Looking at your product mix (which has higher theft potential than most of the stuff that I sell) I'd say expand to more of Europe, specifically: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Nederlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Ireland to start. The other countries are a bit higher risk for various reasons.
But the only one I'd specifically avoid is Russia -- I have sold there with no problems (the last being an original oil painting), but the items were not high on the desireable theft list (small. portable, valuable).

Also, this reminds me that you need to check this for prohibited items to the places you are considering shipping to. https://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/pgIntDest-e.asp?letter=R
Speaking of Russia, jewelry is on the list of Prohibited items!
The link really bears careful examination; these restricted and prohibited item lists often make no sense and are wholly unpredictable.
