I'm wondering what other sellers plan to do during the US shutdown of federal services. I presume USPS and Customs will be affected (although apparently border security is not).
I had thought of putting my store on "vacation" for a few days to see what comes of this US standoff. I'm also postponing listing some rather expensive items as I wouldn't want them held up at the border. If there is a stoppage for more than a few days, I'm not sure what to do. It would no doubt create an increasing backlog the longer it goes on, meaning even longer delays at the border.
Has anyone heard whether USPS is directly impacted, or if it's considered an essential service?
I'd appreciate any thoughts from other Cdn sellers on weathering this mess. I hope at the very least eBay will put up a message on the FB page re shipping delays as they did after Hurricane Sandy.

Thanks Cumos, I wouldn't have thought of going to Wikipedia for this information, but they work fast, don't they?
I think I'll wait another day or two before putting my store on vacation and see what transpires. I suppose I can always let my buyers know there may be delays. Most Americans will be aware of the crisis by now I'm sure.

Similarly to CanadaPost, USPS should be financially self suffcient and not dependent on the federal budget.

A search on Google had all of the answers.
Google is quite good for a lot of things.
My most recent search was for hoosier, and the result on Google images.
A spectacular view of an antique kitchen cupboard from a century, or so, ago.
I look to Google images to view ... sometimes ... a large collection of images form the internet.
and...

It's been DECADES since USPS received ANY support funding from the US Government.

Off original topic, but USPS defaulted on last three 5.5B payments into Retiree Health Benefits and keeps running, which is effectively a loan. And unless situation dramatically improves, there will be bailout and loan will become a subsidy.

Parcel was mailed October 2
Tracking shows that it has left Canada as of October 3....Now the USPS has it... Parcel is definitely on its way to Florida
Appears to be no problem in going through customs....

NOTHING! Not everyone is in a standstill mode. USPS is separately from the US federal government and the shutdown don't affect USPS at all.
I see from tracking information, all my packages have been moving at regular pace, so everything is okay regardless of what you heard on the radio or TV.

There was something about the US dollar and its value if this shutdown continues for a "long" period of time. in yesterday's newspaper
Canadian sellers sell in US dollars as well as Canadian dollars.....
Must watch the exchange rate "carefully"
