What the ....?????

Anyone noticed this? I went in to revise one of my items this morning and, reading down the list just before the "save revisions" button, I saw this:

"Buyer financing options: Special summer offer! "Buy today and make no payments for 3 months" will be displayed for items over $50 (FREE for sellers)"

No way did I authorize that and I DON'T PARTICULARLY WANT eBay offering my buyers terms on my behalf without so much as a "by your leave"! Did I miss a notice somewhere? Has this been going on for long?

Not to worry Glenda... you get your money immediately if they pay by PayPal. It's PayPal that waits for the 3 months to take the money from the buyer.

Sheesh.... eBay is and PayPal are starting to sound like The Brick and Leon's.

Paypal buyers credit

It's a new thing that PayPal has introduced.

Thanks, audioshack and vps ex-Knarf! I DID miss mention of it so I just read the overview and I see it only applies to US buyers paying by PayPal. I'm not sure they make it clear enough that it only applies if the buyer is paying by PayPal, I can just see buyers wanting to send 3 post-dated cheques.

And another complaint about it, it appears we don't have the option of offering it to our fellow-Canadians!!??? If we have to promote PayPal's cockamamy promotions, why do we have to discriminate against our own country?

A very valid point Glenda... PayPal will of course tell us that it is coming to Canada before long or that the logistics are not in place to offer it to Canadian buyers.

Of course, we should be allowed to charge them for the advertising space within our auctions. I have never authorized them to advertise and make money from my auctions or listings so I am uncertain how they determine they can get a free ride.

It's similar to eBay adding the little "Selling Manager Pro" logo into my listings when I have created inventory and list from that inventory. They use the logo to attract new users of the feature (advertising) and yet charge a substantial sum on a monthly basis for me to use the feature. It would seem to me that it would be only fair that I be allowed to charge them for the space within my listings that is used to promote a feature that they alone make money from.

Or, as an alternative, perhaps they should be paying me per click on the logos that they insert into my listings without my expressed permission. That way we can both share the wealth that eBay generates at the sole cost of sellers.

I think the PayPal financing has been in place for a couple of months. I received an email about it a while ago, and didn't pay it much mind.

(in other words, I've given up on trying to track all the new "features" that eBay & PayPal throw our way). I'm just doing business as I've always done it and I'm ignoring anything new. Waste of time in most cases.

When you signed up for SMPro you accepted the user agreement giving your permission for the logo.
