When to Leave Feedback

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.....

As a SELLER, feedback should be left on the basis of good communication and timely payment, am I correct?

As a BUYER, feedback should be left if item is as described, received in a timely manner, and you are happy with your purchase.  Again, am I correct?

What bothers me is either one party or the other either just can't be bothered, or a seller will NOT leave you feedback as a buyer until you leave THEM feedback.  I use feedback the way I feel it should be as I have listed above.  I think what many of these sellers should realize that as a frequent buyer, I personally will not buy from them again as a result of this, and I'm sure there are more that may agree.  It may hurt potential business in the future.  Waiting to see if they are left feedback first and only then will they leave you feedback, or retaliate if it's a negative or neutral when it isn't deserved I think is wrong.  If I pay immediately, I should receive the appropriate feedback at that time.  If I am unhappy for whatever reason (broken item, not received, etc.), I usually instead of leaving a negative or neutral, if after trying to resolve the issue in a respectful manner and am still not happy,   I would rather leave the seller without feedback as it doesn't affect their rating, unless I am very wronged.  I have only left 1 negative, and it was from a seller that sold me something, had 4 of the same item for sale at the same time, and after 3 weeks, told me she didn't have it, and to go through PayPal myself to get my own refund.  It took me another 3 weeks to get the refund as she wouldn't respond to emails from PayPal.  She said "you'll get it eventually".  She then had the nerve to beg me for positive feedback (for what, I'm not sure to this day).  To me, that deserved a negative.  It takes a LOT for me to leave a negative.

If people do not want to be bothered with feedback, that is their choice.  Using it as "blackmail" (I will leave you positive feedback if you do this or do that....)  or badgering someone to leave positive feedback is also wrong.

I just wish it was used the way it should be.  Someone just starting out, it means a lot to build a positive reputation, and when you go out of your way to leave someone feedback and not get any back means, to me, you don't care if you get my business or not.  A lot of sellers I deal with now I am repeat buyers from because they take the time to leave me feedback when I pay them right away, and leave their feedback at the appropriate time.  I always reciprocate as I know they are also building a reputation as well.  It is the only thing that other buyers and sellers have to go by as to whether they can expect a smooth or rocky transaction.

I guess my point here is feedback is a very important part of eBay, so please leave appropriate feedback when it is deserved.  It means more than you know.

Cheers!

When to Leave Feedback

Just to add, I did leave 2 other negatives as I was going through my feedback.  One stole my money, then left eBay.  The other sold me a cheap item hidden within the item that was described, and told me "too bad".  I think those are also justified negatives.  NEVER have I "retaliated" against anyone else.  Meant to add that, my apologies.

Cheers!

It is the only thing that other buyers and sellers have to go by as to whether they can expect a smooth or rocky transaction.

Since a buyer can only receive positive feedback, a buyer's feedback does not tell the seller anything about the buyer.  Because of that, some feel that a buyer's feedback isn't accurate.

I do leave feedback once the item has been shipped but feedback is voluntary and there are no requirements about when it should be left so that is up to each ebayer.

Some sellers wait to give feedback because they feel that the buyer's end is not complete until the item has been received and they are happy with it. For example...a buyer could be impatient and leave a negative or open a case before the item has had time to reach them.

When to Leave Feedback

Ah, this is true.  I guess there could be buyers that could leave a negative feedback about, say, not getting an item when they really did, in which case, the seller would have already left a positive feedback when the buyer did not deserve it.  I never thought about that, thanks for enlightening me.

You're right, it is voluntary, and I never personally have asked anyone for it.  I respect everyone's decision.  It is nice when trying to establish a good reputation if after the transaction is complete feedback could be left, but I know there are sellers that do this for a living and sell thousands of things a day and it probably isn't feasible to sit and give thousands of feedbacks a day.

It's good to have another perspective.  Thanks!  🙂

Cheers!

When to Leave Feedback

eBay Sellers that use listing tools like eBay Selling Manager Pro has automated feedback, set to give at time of payment or at time of receiving feedback from the buyer. The automated feedback has up to 10 responses that are randomly selected from and if desired, they can be changed to feedback text written by the seller.

Selling Manager basic free versions had the same 10 feedback system except it is not automated. So leaving feedback is relatively easy even tho it is manual.

So when a seller is using an automated random feedback system for buyers, it is truly meaningless from a content point of view because it is randomly chosen.

When to Leave Feedback

Since buyer feedback is always positive, I use it to tell my buyers when their items were shipped and how. This would work even better if I were more efficient about it.

When to Leave Feedback

I had an experience recently where, owing to untoward circumstances, an item was never shipped and before I knew it the cost and shipping was refunded.  The whole matter was handled extremely professionally and I would like to leave positive feedback but I cannot leave a rating for whether or not the item was as described or the promptness of the shipping.  Just the same, this individual deserves praise.  Is there a means within the feedback system of doing this?

The buyer leaves feedback. Keep it simple. Telling the world you got a refund does the seller not good. "Thank you for professional handling of difficult transaction.' might work.

At that time you will also be asked to leave Detailed Seller Ratings. You are not required to give a Rating for all four topics.

The normal Rating is FIVE stars. Sounds as if your seller deserves that for Communication.

No rating is a free pass.

I would leave feedback as 'reallynicestamps' said and just forget about the stars. You are not required to fill them. You can leave them blank.

As a seller I always leave feedback after payment and get a little frustrated when customers don't leave feedback.

As a buyer I always wait and inspect my item before leaving any feedback, but will leave feedback all the time because I know how it is as a seller.  Always leave the feedback that is appropriate to your transaction.

Hello ... Why is ebay asks us to leave a feedback of purchases that are still on time delivery .... and removes the possibility of reclamarmos or leave feedback from not compriram the sale agreement ..? If the seller refuse a sale ebay ITEM removes the sale and besides lose contact with the seller can not leave feedback, which facilitates the policy of the seller ... so there are few buyers who can defend it .. is happening in many purchases that have done .. ebay must punish these moves the sellers because buyers pay, enter a comprumisso and are waiting, and end up losing .. Business buyers should have access to continue to leave feedback these sellers. ... vendors must deliver the request (ITEM) equivalent or higher. thanks.

When to Leave Feedback

I'm not even going to read all of the original post, I got far enough
Do you realize how many buyers can't be bothered to leave feedback for sellers? But you have just proved how they all want it. If a seller wants to wait to see if a buyer even bothers to leave any before wasting thier time what's the big deal?

EBay does not know when the item is delivered.

This is an automatic reminder.

Feedback is voluntary. You never have to leave feedback.

and removes the possibility of reclamarmos or leave feedback from not compriram the sale agreement ..?

Please use Babelfish or Google Translate . Ask the question in your first language (Portugese?) and have it translated into English.

Post the question in both languages.

Be careful about spelling.

But.

Leaving feedback does not prevent opening a Dispute about delivery or description.

There are limits on the time you can make a complaint.

On eBay 30 days after the promised delivery date.

On Paypal 180 days after purchase.

On your credit card (which you used to back your PP account) deadlines will vary. Call the 1-800 number on the back of your card for customer service.
