Anyone remember the old song? "How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Paree?"

Does that apply??

Jackie, we all miss your trenchant wit!!

I would guess that she's busy, or maybe just taking a bit of a break...it hasn't been the best selling season for jewelry. I'm sure that she'll be back.

Well aren't you all so sweet. Thank you for noticing my absence. I have been bed-ridden since Tuesday with sinusitus and bronchitis. Finally went to the doctor on Friday and got me some horse pills. They gave me Cipro...anyone remember Cipro??? Anyway, they are antibiotics that you take twice a day. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence can figure out how strong an anti-b has to be if all you need do is take it twice a day.

Well, I took it Friday and took it yesterday. I was feeling better anyway, but this was unreal. I cooked all afternoon and served up the evening meal, sat at the table and I couldn't touch my food. Paul had that look in his eye that he knew what was happening and if he ignored it, maybe it would go away? Not bloody loikely. I sat and stared at my food for several minutes and then I hightailed it for the bathroom. And for the next 5 minutes I was on my knees. (Karen, don't you say anything dirty) Funny thing was, as soon as I was done with that, I was hungry. I tried to munch on a bit of potato, hoping to put something in my stomach, but then my stomach started to ache. I had to go lie down. Do you have any idea how bad it is,to take a Gravol and still be sick?

Anyway, today is a new day and I am feeling like my old self again. I am about 80%, I would say. Now I have to make up for lost time with Christmas coming. I now have to drag Paul into stores on the Monday before Christmas and he's not impressed about that. But, I still haven't bought his gift yet, so I think he'll come along, happily.

I have missed you all and am happy to see you in here today. Hope all is well with everyone. We are going to Kingston for Christmas. Anyone else travelling? Haven't heard from you lately, K. I miss you girl!!!!!

Hugs to everyone :))))

Welcome Back Jack (ie)!

You know me and the silver lining. Well, you got the worst out before Christmas and now you will be able to enjoy a healthy Christmas.

I bet you picked up something from the mechanic what with all the time youve been spending over at the garage these last couple of weeks.

Malcolm - Actually, last week we had our big Christmas party for the Military and when I went to buy my outfit for the affair, the woman who was attending me had laryngitis. Funny, we had made a few jokes about it and I never gave it a second thought. But how on earth could we have made that enitre transaction with a transference of germs. Now, I am annoyed because I'm thinking that people with contagious illnesses really should NOT be working with the public. Certainly not under those heated and close circumstances. If my situation is not proof of that, nothing is. Now I'm afraid that Paul is not feeling too well. Oh well, we're alive. I guess we should count our blessings 😉

I took cipro after getting a nasty bite in the Muskokas...didn't finish the course of it, made me too sick. In case of Lyme...I got an ugly rash from the bite.
That is the antibiotic that they were prescribing for the anthrax scare after 911...if you recall.
Glad to hear that you are up and around again!
I've been quietly watching ebay and recouping my patience and shattered nerves. What a nightmare it has been lately on ebay for me...
But, I will be back in January, I imagine. In the meantime, Jackie, I think that other than my one token auction, you are the only jewelry seller left on ebay.ca!!
Talk atcha later, we're going Christmas shopping...haven't had a chance to do much of it!

My wife works with mentally and physically handicapped children in their homes and often when she arrives, the family and child are down with a serious illness expecting her to spend her hour with them, totally exposed to the germs only to spread to our family and all the others she visits duting the course of a day.

I owned a 110 child capacity day care in the US and you couldnt beleive parents who would bring their kids in with the 2 year old projectile vomitting, thinking we are going to expose staff and a 100 kids to what-ever they have.

It makes you SICK, just thinking about it.

Get well and keep well.

Malcolm - that is gross and disgusting. I really wonder about the mentality of some people. It really makes you think. I mean I seriously hope that there aren't people working at McDonald's or Burger King with all kinds of germs, serving up food to an unsuspecting public. You see kids in Malls and such, sneezing all over the place and not putting their hands to their mouths. It's a bloody miracle that we don't have more epidemics 😕

Jackie, I'm on my way out the door as soon as John "takes a couple of tylenol and gets dressed"...but, am I serious about being the only jewelry seller...well, almost!
Yes, I am serious about the cipro...but it is actually a well tolerated antibiotic that is a wide spectrum one, so it can be aimed at lots of little germies anywhere, as opposed to the ones that are more germ specific. A wonderful little antibiotic, and good for people who react to penicillin or other antibiotics.
You should be feeling much better after being on it for 48 hours.
Best,
k

I had been a VP of a Fast Food chain and can tell you stories about restaurants and bars. I was in executive management of a paper mill that owned the White Swan company and I can tell you stories about grocery stores and the basements they store perishables in.

I used to travel internationally and had the odd occassion to become sick and know exactly what meal and where I ate it that gave me food poisoning (especially in Latin America).

There is no safe place and to be honest with you, a little exposure to some germs can make you a stronger person, build up some immunities (or in the worse case scenario, kill you).

I must admit that I have been down with something for the last couple of weeks, right after getting my flu shot however I am attributing it to exhaustion and my asthma flaring up with the colder weather forcing me to spend more time indoors exposed to artificial heat and poor air circulation.

Or it could be lack of sex.

Malcolm - Speaking of which....being sick for so many days, I was in the same 'situation'. I swear that that doesn't help matters any. Anyway, that was recently remedied and I have felt better ever since. You might have something there, Malcolm. By the way, when you get the notion, you might want to share one or two of those stories to which you referred :))

K, yes, I knew that the Cipro was used for Inhalation Antrax. I remember back in the aftermath of 9/11, when all the Anthrax scares were going on, they started to mass-produce Cipro in case there would be an epidemic. I think they were producing more in Canada, too. Now, I think they are just trying to get rid of the surplus so they prescribe it for anything. I am sure it's a good drug but I couldn't tolerate it. I had to stop taking it. I was already on my way to getting better so I don't feel as guilty not finishing it. Frankly, I'd rather suffer the Bronchitis than the stomach problems from the cipro.

And, seriously, I had to stop taking cipro because I couldn't stomach it either. Be careful though, as the doctor's say, it could just make the germ that much stronger. If you still feel punky, go back to the doc and get some erythromicin. It helps with bronchitis too.
I think for it to be effective, you need to take it 3 times a day, prior to having sex. Or was it after...anyways, I'm sure that Paul won't mind, will he?

Just had some auctions close tonite, probably the best in the past few weeks. Most sold, although only a few sold for more than the opening bid. Oh well, invoicing tomorrow (after golf if it's a nice day!)

G'night all, and for any of you that won't make it here too many more times before the year end, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Blessings of the Season, and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2004! May we all jump a PS level!!
