Where's my 17% CP discount??

Just talked to my friendly PostLady at the local 7-11. She's choked that I'm doing most of my mailing on-line now.

She told me that her store (as do most sub-post offices) make SEVENTEEN PERCENT off all postage sold. Gee, I don't see that reflected in my on-line discount, do you??

It's true, postal outlets do get the discount on ALL postage (including first class mail which no one else does). There is a price to pay of course.

They receive NOTHING for handling all the package pick-ups, customs collections, registed mail Handling, sorting, dealing with contract drop offs etc. etc. etc. etc. not to mention dealing with all the idiots that come into a postal outlet every day (not regular sellers who know how things work) like the guy in front of me mailing a few items, mid-twenties, claimed he didn't know you needed a postal code, asked the clerk for the postal code for "Edmonton" had no idea how our postal code system worked and NO he was not a tourist or temporary visitor. The endless supply of "I want to pick up a registered letter, I don't have the notice card, the letter is not in my name and I don't have any id with me anyway....why won't you give me my letter blah blah blah).

I'm not sure it's worth 17%
