If I am doing a search or I am looking at an item on ebay the page keep spinning, like refreshing. Is that normal?

This is all related to excessive advertising (active content ) by eBay.... which causes the site to freeze up at times or slows down and becomes less responsive.
I was experiencing it on Internet Explorer so I switched to Google Chrome which is better but i still experience problems that are similar but not nearly as bad as IE was....
Actually today IE was pretty consistent..... for the good.

My machine does that from time to time, mostly on Facebook.
I shut down the machine and turn off the electricity to it.
Count to 20 and turn it on again.
Seems to work.

I did what you have done and it has almost worked. It is way better now, thanks. The problem I see if that there is so much active content on ebay pages now. This was one that was trying to load.

Could it also be due to how many people are trying to access eBay.
Much easier to log on at 4:00 AM... than at suppertime....6:00 to 7:00 PM CST
Many east of me have already had their supper and most likely are viewing listings on eBay.

Probably all the ad servers and eBay tracking things in the background. Block them.

How do I do that?

That could well be. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is being driven nuts by this.
Raphael was asked about slow page loading on eBay and he suggested that one recent ad might be the culprit (he didn't say exactly which one), but honestly this dragging on and on of pages loading has been going on for a while now. It's just that it's become especially bad in the last 3 weeks. Is it site overload due to Christmas? Perhaps, but you would think a site like eBay should be well prepared for extra visitors at this time of year.
To answer the question above, I think most browsers may have ad blockers, but you might have to dig down a couple of layers into the more "advanced" user settings to find specifically what you need. I've never wanted to block all ads because I thought it might also block active content that might be important or useful.
If 'pococomputing' is around and pops up in his usual genie-in-the-bottle magic way, he might be willing to give us specific instructions at least for a couple of the major browsers.
Incidentally, if anyone here is using a MAC, I'd be very interested to know if they're experiencing the same maddeningly slow page loading. My laptop is quite new, using Windows 10, so I don't think it's a question of old technology trying to keep up with newer site technology, at least not in my case.
This must be just as frustrating for buyers (and not good for us sellers as a result!). I was looking to buy something in particular on eBay the other day and frankly I finally gave up -- what with all the jumping around, jerkiness, and half-loaded pages, it was impossible to browse in any pleasant way.

I first noticed the slow down of ebay page functions about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I do think it has something to do with ad scripts ebay is running on their site as about the same time I noticed 3 large square ads on the bottom of many pages. I also noticed unfamiliar sounding company names where the ad info appeared to be loading from. You would think ebay would do a dry run test of this stuff before going "live" on site, especially a month before Christmas. I have listed much less than I planned on as it takes so long some times for the site to function. Seems to be a bit better the last few days, maybe ebay took note of the user comments and changed something.

I have an imac and I encounter it now and then - not consistent.
Makes me think it is certain ads.
It has been good the last few days so maybe they did find the problem.

My PC is older with windows 7 and I haven't ever had a problem with slow loading pages. I'm not on my PC right now to check but I probably have an ad blocker set up through Firefox. My PC does have some other issues though so lately I've been using my iPad a lot and haven't had a problem on either safari or chrome.

I have a "new" observation.
When I list items, I sometimes go check to make sure I got the right pictures etc in the listing.
I have noticed repeatedly:
-the item comes up
-the ads all seem to be there and "active"
BUT the spinning continues and:
-I cannot use the "autoexpand" box over the primary picture
OR
-I cannot see any or some of the thumbnails to be expanded and clicking on them doesn't expand them
One the spinning stops I can use the autoexpand and/or I can see the thumbnails expanded.
So I am beginning to think the problem is related to ebay and it's own stuff being overwhelmed as opposed to the ads, because this has been happening for a while.
I also realized that it has been happening on myebay page for me as well and there are no ads on it......
