Why eBay Divorced PayPal?

Hi folks,

Can kind member please explains to me why these two separated? in a short sentence because I have attention deficit disorder and what are the implications of this divorce?

Money... money... money

Basically, management decided that shareholders would receive more overall value on the long term by owning two different companies than only one.

Being separated from eBay will open many new possibilities to PayPal to deal with eBay's competitors.  That could not really be done when PayPal was a division of eBay.

For a seller on eBay not much is changing for the next few years.

From what I've read eBay and PayPal have a 5 year agreement regarding services between them.

Think of it more as a couple sleeping in separate beds rather than a divorce.

And we lost the "shipnow" from Paypal in the divorce. Anyone else find a way thru this?

My wild guess is that PayPal due to eBay escalating misconduct no longer wishes to be associated with eBay. See an example at link:
