available shipping services in Canada?

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking into other shipping services to send my items. I've actually had pretty good service with Canada Post, but I'd like to look into other providers.
I've been approached by a company to try dropshipping, and I know that the customers will want good tracking info, which I just can't get with C.Post airmail.
So...

I need something cost effective. For the most part, I'm shipping just one book at a time. The books right now fit through CPost's magic slot and ship inexpensive. I don't really want to be paying some insane amount to ship the individual books.
I will also be sending out multiple books (could be over or under 1kg), as well as large orders. I ship to Canada, the US, the UK, and occasionally Australia.

What shipping companies are available to us? (FedEx, Purolator, DHL, others?) and what are the pros and cons for using these companies.

Thanks- your experiences/advice are much appreciated!

For outside of Canada you won't likely find any cheaper alternative than Canada Post. Within Canada if you have agood volume you might be able to get a competitive price from UPS but not likely for single books.

Be very careful, drop shipping rarely works and for Canadians it almost never works.

I spoke with a woman late this afternoon from Purolator (super nice lady). We discussed my needs and my current shipping. When she gave me the quote, I had to try not to laugh- $33.35 to ship one book to the US. But, I'd probably get a 20% discount based on what I ship. And it was even more expensive to the UK.
Yikes!
I'm starting to really appreciate CanadaPost!
