Are Canadians being forced out of shopping ebay.com? First things first... I must say that I love Ebay.com. What a wonderful way to shop the American market place! My main interests are centred around vintage Ford cars, guitars and, occasionally, models cars. I'm guess I'm still a kid in an old body. Recently, I wanted to purchase a 1946 Ford front brake drum from a seasoned US seller. The buy it now price is $80.39... OK. The shipping price to my Canadian address is an additional $80.40. If I have to pay the sales tax of an additional 13%, the total cost would be $197.59. I've gone from a $80 purchase to a $200.00 purchase... 2.5 times the original price. My point is, I can't do it. I will not do it ! And I really don't think too many other Canadians are going to do it. I have to give up on Ebay .com. I've tried shopping Ebay.ca, but that is simply not working since there are very few Canadians listing on Ebay.ca! Come on Canadians from coast to coast, we've got tons of junk. Let's list it on ebay.ca and get it to where it's needed. Besides, shipping within Canada is a Canada Post bargain! aland3295

It's even worse than that... besides ridiculous cross-border shipping charges, they are now outrageous "import fees" which seem to be 40% or more of the sale price! **bleep**?!

Not all US sellers use the Global Shipping Program (GSP) which is where all the additional fees come from. You will have to weed out the ones that don't use it or ask sellers if they are willing to not use it for you.
Right now there is no way to specifically filter out sellers who use the GSP.

ebay is basically screwing Canadians with these import charges, I refuse to spend a penny on ebay unless it has no import fees. you can go to hell with your import fees
