does paypal convert currencies?

I have both USD and CAD in my paypal account. 
Everytime I buy something on eBay, it uses the USD. I'm wondering if I use up all of the USD, will it automatically convert the CAD to USD to pay for things?

Or will my CAD be useless?

If all you have left in your PayPal account is Canadan dollars,it will be converted and used to fund your purchase. The conversion will be at the current rate plus a 2.5% conversion fee.

To use Canadian dollars, you must set CAD as Primary on your Paypal account.

Note that if you purchase items in USD and you have US funds in your Paypal account it will choose that currency to pay your items.
