There is a deal today for mini tripod on front-page. The ad was up little over 2hrs and sold 1095pcs. Then I refreshed after few minutes and went up to 1114.

If it sells with the same rate of approx 500pcs/hr not even counting the last-minute spike, this seller is in for $50k sales today just from this item.

This is some heavy-duty selling !!!

Sorry for the 'Newbie' question, but how can you tell from the listing how many they have sold during the day?

Thanks.

You can see how many items were sold from a listing with multiple quantities by looking at the History line of the Other item info section. (on the right)

You will have all the details if you click on it.

I just tried to buy that USB cable set from Buy, but he does not let me despite having US address. The problem seems to be my Canadian PayPal account.

Yeah, I've run onto that as well.

Cost some sellers a sale - I just went to someone else.

I was having trouble with that too.

I decided to change my buying ID to the US, using my US Address, my US bank account, I changed my email address, and opened a US paypal, used it a couple of times works great 🙂

And then I just pay for all my purchases with my Canadian Paypal account.

eBay deals are stealing purchasing momentum from us. My sales are approx 30% down although traffic is only slightly down.

How do you know that the deals are the cause of your sales being down?

In the big picture, eBay "deals" are irrelevant to any one seller's business.

More than 1,500,000 items are sold daily on eBay (auction, fixed price and store). The number of items sold on 'deals" is a very small fraction of that total and cannot have any material effect on anyone's sales.

Perhaps. Buy has been dumping lot of stock here. Average technology enthusiastic customer is more likely to get that electronic gadget than someone searching for collectible stamps of coins.

I don't know, only speculating. Most deals are US based (Buy prevents anyone with non-US PayPal). I see bigger drop in US customers than non-US.

I think it's more of the pre-Christmas effect for non-Christmas items.

In my case, nobody gives a block of plastic for Christmas ( at least, I HOPE not!). In your case, nobody's going to give a transistor for Christmas.

IF people in the US had more money, they'd be buying for others and themselves this month. Since they don't, they spend for others and we'll see the purchases in Jan, Feb, Mar, when the Christmas sellers are in a coma.
