eBay Express has launched. I was trying to figure out why non of my items were showing, since they all qualify, and I seemed to have all the right things checked off. Then I came across this under rules for being included:

Be registered (the seller) as a US or CA seller (okay)

Items must be located in the US (Huh?)

I certainly hope this is only for the early beta stage.

Does anyone know anything about this?

It seems the shop is open, in beta. People are shopping on it right now (see US PS discussions). It is open to Canadians, but only if your 'items' are located in the USA. So for now, I guess that leaves out about 99.9 % of us, at a guess.

What I was wondering is if anyone knows whether this restriction is just for the beta period and there are plans to open it to Canadians who list on eBay.com, or if this is going to be always closed to Canadians? I think Express might be a big deal, and it's really tough luck if we won't be included.

Yes we have items that ship from the US as well that are not showing up. Not sure why but I plan on finding out.

I started a thread a few days ago asking for a pink to respond giving a time frame for Canadian sellers participation in ebay Express, but got no reply. Ann

I got an answer from PS support, and it says that the limitation for Canadians is only during the beta stage. So we should be included before too long. Great! Tim.

But the real question will be how we are includedd. Will it be in the default search like on ebay.com - or will it be almost hidden. Express is promoting easy and fast (suggesting to wait 10 days before maing not received complaint!), I'm not that confident they intend for interntional users to be included in default search.

10 days? Wow, not that would be a problem for us, wouldn't it? But then, from what I have seen of US sellers, it will likely be a problem for many of them, too. Tim.

I'm sure I saw 10 days soemwhere, now I see :

"The eBay Express seller did not deliver the promised goods. If the buyer does not receive the goods purchased, he or she is eligible for coverage. Buyers should wait a reasonable amount of time - at least a week- to receive the item, and should first attempt to contact the seller and resolve the issue before filing a dispute under this policy."

"At least" a week!

It is "Express" after all. I think the fear in allowing Canadian sellers in is Canada Post delays. However, I'd like it to include Canadian sellers who use services other than Canada Post. We use UPS exclusively to the States and all our items arrive within 6 business days.

I don't think its a question of using Canada Post but more like to promote Ebay stores. It will be introduced in Canada shortly. This is what I have been reading.

Hi Timo43

Thanks for the question and for starting the thread. For the moment, eBay Express will be available only to US sellers and Canadians with items located in the US. We are all watching the launch of Express very closely and will be relying on feedback from users like yourself, in addition to internal analysis, to determine whether or not we will expand eBay Express to Canada.

Hi mtfman/catalystpainball,

I just wanted to make sure you knew about all the criteria required to have your items displayed on eBay Express. I have included them below for your reference. If you meet all of these criteria and still do not see your listings on eBay Express, please let me know.

Seller Criteria
-Maintain a feedback score of 100 or more, 98% positive or better
-Maintain a public feedback profile (e.g., no private feedback)
-Support your listings with a PayPal Premier or PayPal Business account
-Ensure your PayPal account settings are set to ship to unconfirmed addresses or make sale-by-sale decisions (“Ask me for unconfirmed addresses”)
-Be registered as a US or CA seller

Listing Criteria
-List on eBay.com
-List in Fixed Price or Store Inventory format
-Fill in the item condition field (i.e. New, Used, Refurbished) in Item Specifics. (some categories exempted)
-Use Pre-Filled Item Information for listings within Books, DVDs & Movies, Music, & Video Games.
-Include shipping costs (flat, calculated or free) in the shipping fields
-Provide a picture or gallery
-Use eBay checkout or the new checkout integration API (for 3rd party order processing)
-Items must be located in the US

Hi Vaughan,
Thank you so much for the information. eBay.com support answered some questions I had, and strongly implied that after the beta period, Canadians would be included in Express, even if their items located in Canada. Could you please confirm that? It would be really nice to know that a little later we will be included~ Thank you again! Tim.

It is not a free market anymore when people are prevented from competing by rules that are not free market based. Those are the communist rules. In addition they eliminated most US sellers who don't have 100 score from having one so I cannot see how this double layer of the same service can bring any good to anybody. I sell to the US mainly so my competition. Some of them are registered in Mexico, some in the US and until now the product was situated in the US, Mexico and Canada but now everything is located in the US. When listing on ebay.com server with the item located outside of the US I have been eliminated from competing even though I can deliver faster to Northern US than the whole Latino competition located at the Mexico/US border or South of it. I don't have time nor desire to wait for someone at eBay to decide whether I can compete with my only competition again so since it is a fee market economy I am going to do what my Mexican competition already did in order to bring traffic back to my store. What is eBay profit from separating some sellers from the rest of us?... I assume this idea will be dropped sooner or later and I am tired of those constant changes which don't bring any additional profit just consume all available time for changing the code in the listings instead of posting the new once. I don't want to even mention the fact that while default display on ebay is left and on Express center what makes necessary for many sellers to revise html in all listings in order they are displayed the way they were intended too. People have thousands of listings now displaying on express in a crappy way so just imagine spending all that time in revising instead of producing beside the fact that prior to express anybody could preprogram search the way ebay express is searching. What a useless tool used for defragmenting the product base instead of integrating as well as eliminating many products that are not available otherwise. In other words lost business, lost profit for sellers and ebay. I hope someone finally decide to allow free market forces to shape the market place instead of playing communist. Maybe ebay is testing waters for entering Cuba?
