eBay, PayPal transaction fee

Quick question, on August 8th I sent parcel value just over C$400 to Spain and got lost, it was air small package with C$100 insurance, with obvious reason I lost claim and Paypal refunded seller with full amount but since it was over 45 days eBay and Paypal keep transaction fee with case closed. My question then why they or should they keep transaction fee even money was refunded to seller and sale was reversed?

Thanks in advance

eBay, PayPal transaction fee

"since it was over 45 days "

???

Buyers have to file a claim within 45 days fron date of payment in case of non-receipt. That should give sellers enough time to refund and file a transaction cancellation with eBay.

When did the buyer file the claim with PayPal?

" When did the buyer file the claim with PayPal?"

It was around 30 days. But now I also have another claim opened by purchaser credit card claiming not receiving it after more then two months...

It would have been preferable to refund the buyer at time the claim was filed for non-receipt. Both your eBay FVF and PayPal fees would have been credited.

You'll have to deal with PayPal on that one. If you do not have proof of shipment through online tracking, odds are PayPal will find for the buyer.

Perhaps a bit off-topic but Spain and Portugal seem to have eclipsed Italy when it comes to "lost in the mail".

This year, we have not had a single lost package to Italy, on or off eBay but Spain and Portugal seem to have a failure rate of about 10-15% these days - ouch!

I have to file 4 claims alone this Monday. I mean, they are all covered by the $100 insurance and we are also in the habit of splitting shipments, but still...
