eBay Store Advantage?

Getting up to 50 items and thinking of opening up an ebay store again.

Had one twice before but closed it down because of not enough items, now that the store listings have the same visibility as regular listing so i think it's time to re-open for business.

Besides a higher final value, what's the current thought on advantage and disadvantage please?

The Fixed Price listing price is lower with a store but only non store owners get 100 free auctions per month with free BIN. Those promotions run until Jan. 7th.

You can look here for the chart of the benefits of each level of store:

With 50 listings you may want to consider the Basic Store, but insertion fees are higher and then FVF are 12% no matter which level of store you have.

One good thing about having a store is that you can *brand* yourself so to speak and people always know that they can click there and see everything you have neatly organized with additional information on your extra pages.

There's a fee illustrator at the above link that gives you the opportunity to input information about your selling practices and it will give you eBay's thoughts as to which store level you should be in. Mind you....you have the ultimate say so long as you meet the requirements!

Best of luck!

Well, now...how can you look there when the link doesn't show up?!!!!

I'll try again! Okay...well, I'm not having luck with using the link button above, so....here's the url...just copy and paste and you'll get there!

http://pages.ebay.com/storefronts/Subscriptions.html

Fingers are crossed that the url stays even if it's not clickable!

thank you 🙂

it seems that with 50 items it's indeed worthwhile to open up a store.

the biggest change to the store is the search function which put it among the regular listings.

and i could use the new improved vacation mode soon 🙂

eBay Store Advantage?

this is NOT funny.

in the process of linking my items to ebay store cateories, ebay super impose a fee of 75 cents for picture pack which i did not choose.

"Picture Pack (US $0.75 for up to 6 pictures or US $1.00 for 7 to 12 pictures )
Includes extra pictures and enhanced picture options on your listing page"

this i found out later on was on the standard upload page which i did not use, i was hosting my own picture.

so i called ebay this afternoon, spent 30 minutes holding and taling to this lady who assure me when the charge applied, just call them back and they'll credit it back.

i finished linking my items this evening and surely enough ten of them will charge automatically, so i called ebay again starting at 9 pm and it's now 10:13 and i am still on hold and talk and hold more 😞

may be that's why ebay is making profit this quarter by superimposing fees on unsuspected customers.

Absolutely insane!!!! still holding....

Ouch!

Nothing seems to be working properly on eBay these days. Shipping is still not combining at checkout and buyers are being charged the full rate necessitating a partial refund for many transactions. Now when I use Sell Similar and attempt to change from FP to auction or vice versa I have to try several times to get it to change. One of my best customers mentioned in an email to me today that there is always something not working on eBay or PayPal.

Good luck Marcopoloca!

marcopoloca,

Are the items that you are being charged for the Picture Packs items that you listed BEFORE you had the store, but then added more pictures afterwards?

I'm asking because perhaps if you want the additional free pictures that are offered to store owners you may need to have this listings START after the opening of your store.

Mind you, I'm just guessing here.

Now off to sleep as 4 AM comes to quickly!

marcopoloca,

I was not suggesting that your situation was funny in any way. I was referring to the description of customer service offered by eBay from PJ.

Your situation....does need attention right away as it is costing you money.

Hey Susan, thank you for your posting 🙂

I understand that your message was not meant for me, my comment was not meant at you either, sorry it may seem that way as i was absolutely pissed for spending 2 hours with ebay for something that i did not initiate or did.

I tried to hold my manner but lost out at the end :(, got to try harder next time.

No i never had used picture pack, ever; the rep. found out why it was charged as it was ticked off automatically by ebay even though i did not upload a single picture, i was hosting my picture elsewhere at photobucket.

Now you got to stop hanging around here and go to bed earlier 🙂

Hi marcopoloca,

Glad you understood! I know that you are/were very frustrated with what is happening with your venture once again into an eBay store.

I hope and wish for a positive outcome for you including fees refunded for the picture packs!

Yes, 4 AM came early, but our girls and I managed quite fine! Thankfully right now early morning skates are only once a week and this is for the dedicated competitive skaters! We were up at 4 (because we live so far out), on the road by 5 and on the ice exactly at 6 AM!!!!! And, then they skated for 2 hours straight! And....without one complaint from our 8 year old or 13 year old twins!

Mind you....they went to school afterwards and I went home for a well deserved "mom" nap so that I could go and do the same thing all over again this evening! Our youngest skates the longest because she is in a higher level of figure skating...but her sisters are right there cheering her while they are waiting for their time to hit the ice....and vice versa!

Keep trying! I know that you'll have this problem resolved! It may get ugly! It will make you mad! But in the end....all will be well!

That Picture Pack is sneaky. You have to watch for it (especially if you are listing on dotcom, in my experience).

Fortunately, the 75 cent fee shows up before you hit the LIST MY ITEM button.

But finding the link to remove it is a lady dog.

I don't usually need more than one, maybe two pictures, but for those who do use a lot , a Store can be a big saving in picture costs.
