eBay.ca Seller Pack. Any Interest

Hi all. I just received the email re the eBay.ca Seller Pack Promo. I have read the info and re-read it. Does this or does this not include Gallery itself? Or is it for gallery upgrades only? Anyone know for sure? Now, if it does include the gallery picture itself (regular cost of .41 cents) factoring in the perceived value of $10 for the Market Research Basic, this seems to be geared to those that may list 100 plus auctions per month. Is my math working for me here or?

Does anybody know how the refund/credit works? Do they just credit your account balance once, or multiptle times for all the listings... or do they pay you back in some other fashion?

My account transaction report is already a nightmare to try and read .. I'm betting it's each one individually credited. All 1500/month for me.

Hi laplaya29,

Market Research Pro will search U.S. and Canada, but Basic (which is what is included in the Seller Pack) doesn't.

If the Seller Pack was Research Pro, well... that would be a completely different story. 🙂

I'd even consider upgrading to Pro, but the Seller Pack only seems to be valid with Basic, and I'm not sure if I upgrade if it would still count as the "Seller Pack" promo.

Wow, well that is a piece of information that I did not know... Basic does not search the .com site.. that is very basic isnt it.

Regarding the Seller Pack... I asked the question .. what happens because I am already subscribed to Market Place Research Pro and I was told that I would receive the credit equivelant of the Basic. So although not free, the cost would be reduced.

Overall the cost of the program is too expensive for what I am doing. I would need to create 147 auction listings a month to break even and I am lucky if I can create one a day, so I fall way short of even just breaking even in this promotion.

I received a message this morning saying that this program was to be discontinued December 31st. I find that very disappointing.

I suspect it was perhaps too beneficial for the seller!

FRICK!

I hate eBay's treatment of us. This was finally something that helped out our store instead of constantly eroding our profits, and it is ripped away.

I am pissed right off.

Don't forget to use the feedback avenue provided on the email. Not sure if it will help, but I expressed my disappointment on the cancellation.

VERY GOOD POINT, Zarzuella. If we all express our disappointment perhaps they will come up with something new that will help us. I am ever hopeful!! I had a good month thanks to the Seller Pack.

Yes, I replied with the following:

It was with great hope and pleasure that I enrolled in this program, feeling that perhaps this would begin to level the playing field between Canadian and American sellers in the North American ebay marketplace.

I am deeply disappointed to have it recinded so quickly. While I am not privy to the details of why this decision was made, I must say it was, and is, very upsetting. Any faith that was instilled in the Canadian selling community that our issues were being heard and acted upon has now been dashed.

Add me to the list of the disappointed too. I wonder if the US eBayers complained or was it something else? Maybe not enough people signed up for it or something. :(

My guess is that it was not cost effective.

For example, I suspect I was probably the ideal target seller for this type of promotion; most of my sales are in the $5-$8 range and at this price point I never used gallery - too expensive. I signed up for the promo in the hopes that gallery would increase my sales, and it has - November has been my best month ever on eBay with sales of around $1000 more than in October. Was this due to the Sellerpack promo? I can't tell for sure, but I'm certainly prepared to continue paying $50 for it. I guess the point is that eBay made more money from me, and I made more money through ebay - everybody happy.

The other side of the coin is the seller who always used gallery anyway and signed up for the promotion to save money. eBay makes less from these sellers, and my guess is that these sellers far outnumbered the people who never used gallery.

Just a theory, but these decisions ususally come down to dollars and cents

I use gallery on every listing, but I did not sign up for the program. At my listing pace, I can only create 1 or two listings a day, but I would have had to create 5 or 6 listings a day to just break even, an impossible task for me. I am however dissapointed to hear that it has been cancelled without really giving it any chance, and will be skeptical of any future Seller Pack experiments. We need concrete Selling Improvement/Incentives not this temporary try this try that and see if it works... where is the indepth research that eBay should be doing before the programs are rolled out.

And lets not forget pressue from US sellers complaining bitterly about perks for us igloo dwellers. That very much had a lot to do with the program's demise.

Well, let us complain about the 'perks' that US sellers get over us -- namely cheap shipping. eBay has no control over that, but it sure makes an inequal playing field for me.

In my business, we are practically the only high-volume seller of our type in CANADA -- competing with about 4 or 5 in the USA. I could do a LOT more if eBay just gave us a bit of a chance.

I would tend to agree with you, John. I honestly don't know how you compete selling small items against the U.S. sellers.

I honestly thought that the seller pack gave us a bit of a leg up in trying to compete. Even if Jordon's answer was true, why would they call off a program because only a few were taking advantage of it? Obviously, it was not costing them much if that was the case.

Like I said before, it is just disappointing. We had faith that .ca was going to give us the ability to complete on a more level playing field and now that has been dashed. :(
