Hi ch2ar4lie.. I see that you ship Canada/US. If that is your decision , do you have Buyer Requirements set to block bidders from other countries..

To US , i would use Expedited Parcel with delivery confirmation. A 25% cost reduction if label is printed via eBay or PayPal and doubt there would be much change from the amounts you are charging..

Hello 'ch2ar4lie',
Did you actually send that parcel by Surface mail? That particular service ought to come with a warning label, - for the sender, not the recipient.:^O Anyway, - have you seen this link from Canada Post about how to calculate a parcel rate:

You know enough to use metric, right? You have a postal scale and a metric tape measure, all that, yes?

I sell assorted items under various names.
Most of vintage paperbacks, dress patterns and postcards go LetterMail. Cheap and fast (Air Mail).
Larger books go Small Packet Surface to the US, Expedited to Canada (we get a discount) and Small Packet Air overseas.
These products are also low fraud.
But the services are insured against loss or damage in transit.
My high priced philatelic literature ($50 -200) as well as some high value general interest books go Expedited to the USA and Small Packet Air overseas.
*These services have up to $100 insurance against loss or damage in transit from Canada Post. CP is very good about insurance claims.
*Only Air Mail for overseas.
* There is actually an advantage to using a service that is not Delivery Confirmed internationally. If CP can see confirmation of delivery, they will not pay out on the insurance. The DC services are MUCH more expensive than the insured. And of course, most parcels will be delivered eventually. Choose your battles.
I also sell some valuable postage stamps (in the $100 to $600 range). These go ExpressPost in North America and FedEx overseas. And on these my customer gets "free" shipping.
Again, all of my products are low fraud, with the occasional exception of militaria and Christian items. Go figure.
