listings ending needing upc/mpn

Hello fellow sellers,

I have a problem- I sell brand new canvaswork, cross stitch charts etc straight from the wholesaler/designer.  These are published privately and do not have upc/mpn numbers on them.  Today I got an email saying 2 of my listings ended and BOTH listitngs have "does not apply" in the fields for each variation for the upc numbers.  (both are variation listings-not sure if this significant or not).  I just talked to the ebay rep and she said ebay is now changing it's policy on "new" items-they will require upc/mpn even if one does not exist but that they are making a product catalog with numbers we can use...however this catalog will not be available for a while.  In the meantime in the next 30 days all my new listings will end, so the only work around I can see is to list brand new items as used and put in the description that they are brand new...my concern is...when a buyer does a search and 5 listings come up and 4 are new, mine show used will they still go into my listing?  Does anyone have any other ideas of how to overcome this new wonderful development by ebay?  I'm so tired of fixing existing listings...first changing to CDN funds, then adding upc/mpn, now it's starting all over again.....

just revised an ended listing...wouldn't you know it took "does not apply" and didn't give me an error message. So does that mean that buys me another 30 days?

LOL...yes, unfortunately of my 7000+ listings about half are new items, so I'm going to be inundated if this is what they are going to do.

What happens when you insert a random string of numbers?

Have you tried relisting the ended items as 30 day listings? Or Good Til Cancelled?

Are you listing on dotCA or dotCOM?

If your items can be shipped LetterPost/Light Packet, you can list on dotCOM in US dollars (I know another change.) using Fixed Price shipping.

If your items require Parcel rates, you are better off on dotCA.

have not tried fudging the numbers, I just listed 3 other new items and they are all going through with no error message. I always do GTC, and listing on .ca. Apparently this is going to be across the board- all countries including the US so changing to .com won't make a difference. I'm hoping it's just a fluke or maybe with the new revision form that it's just needing the upc "does not apply" in the first page as well as the variation page-it seems that info doesn't carry forward when you do a variation listing-unfortunately since they revised the revision form any self hosting photos are dropping off and you have to re-add ALL the variation photos whenever you do anything-even just changing an amount or shipping-this they say will be fixed in March (I've only been complaining about it since August). thanks for the suggestions

thanks for the links-I don't know if I can just add any random number-even ones that do have upc codes have different ones for each little booklet-not a generic one for all.
,I just got a link for a blog about this and apparently ebay isn't supposed to be ending lisitngs
until they have the product catalog rolled out which won't be for months...also, I'm not the only one affected, lots of vintage item sellers have also had their listings ended.
