Member is requesting to pick up Apple ipod locally. We apparently live in the same city and if he wins he wants to pick up locally to save on shipping. Any reason what this is not a good idea. Aside from the obvious of course, he could be a nut and I may not want him to know where I live. Thanks.

He already knows where you live since he has access to your information since he has won the auction. The only thing other than the obvious is that you only want to accept CASH, no paypal for pickup.

Unless your listing mentioned local pickup you don't have to agree to it if you feel uncomfortable about having buyers show up at your home. If you decide to allow local pickup,besides the requirement for cash on pickup,you may want to meet the buyer at a neutral site,such as the local Tim Hortons.

The good thing about a pickup paid in cash is that the buyer can inspect the goods before paying, making PP or eBay disputes unlikely. Actually, payment in cash makes them impossible.

Security is less of a problem than haggling over price. But basically, it is yours until it is paid for and the price was already agreed.
