multi listing violation

Happy Holidays Everyone...
Ive been listing golf shirts etc on Ebay for about 8 years now and try and list about 50 or more per week.I use Auctiva. The other day I had a listing pulled for multi listing.I have no idea how that happenned as I certainly wasnt trying to list the same golf shirt twice. There is absolutely no advantage for me to list a $15.00 golf shirt twice given the fact I only had one like it.I very seldom have duplicates of anything.I might have accidentally clicked the upload button twice ,or maybe it was some sort of computer glitch at Auctiva.I really have no idea how it happenned.Whatever the reason it certainly wasnt intentional.Because this will go against me as a Policy violation which can have harsh consequences... Do you think I should try and plead my case and if so with who? OR will I just be wasting my time.I'm not feeling very hopeful. It would be helpful to have some sort of ombudsmen for these types of things. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

multi listing violation

I got a few of those violations and not because I am a flooder...just relisted the same item accidentally. Even so, my policy compliance is high. I don't think they consider that a severe policy violation.

I have had about 3 of them so far and the duplicate listings were not done intentionally. I would imagine that it is happening to most sellers and eBay would have a large number of sellers with "severe policy violations"...too many to call it severe. I hate being treated like a kindergarten student.

I keep doing this on another ID where I have multiple copies of certain books.

I never had that luxury before and I was relisting sold items without realizing that they would automatically relist.

As stated above, eBay (at least for the moment) seems to be just housecleaning without penalizing.

We'll see how it goes in future though. The point was, as I recall, to stop the flooding of certain categories with dozens if not hundreds of identical listings by Big Box sellers.

I got nailed with a violation as well. I forgot to end a listing before putting up a new one.

Thanks to that oversight, I got nailed and now have my first ever violation, sheesh.

My mistake as well but this multi posting to one item cost me store downgrade from Premium Store to Basic Store, that's what I was told by ebay live support.

How many of these violations had you received when they downgraded your store? Could there be another reason that they downgraded it? Live support can't be trusted for accurate information.

I've had a few too, purely by accident.- Just another eBay bs rule that they do nothing about. There's no way they would downgrade a store for a few of these "violations" . eBay live support doesnt have a clue sometimes..(read- most times).

US sellers are getting away with millions of identical listings, and when I try to report them, nothing is ever done. Even after checking back weeks later, they are still the same. Its just another eBay bad joke (like shipping time DSR's... but don't get me started on that completely assinine eBay invention that we have virtually no control over). X-(

Take a look at this http://pages.ebay.ca/help/basics/f-powersellers.html#1-14

How do I comply with all eBay listing and marketplace policies?

To comply, you must not violate the Shill Bidding, Feedback Manipulation, or Counterfeits policies. In addition, violations of any eBay policies may result in the loss of PowerSeller status. The following limits apply:

Bronze 4 violations in a 90-day period
Silver/Gold 5 violations in a 90-day period
Platinum 6 violations in a 90-day period
Titanium 7 violations in a 90-day period

multi listing violation

After seeing this thread, I was wondering about my duplicate listings. I relied on eBay to have my duplicate listings removed automatically when policy was implemented and everytime I listed something, also checked if there is no such item / lot-size already.

Last night I did a check and found out I had over 150 duplicates. All these were GTC from before the policy was implemented 😮

If you have thousands of listings, here is a quick method how to find your duplicates and select the inferior ones for deletion (the listing with fewer previous sales ranks lower than listing with more sales).

1) Download all active listings via File Exchange and load into spreadsheet

2) Sort by Type and remove Type 1 (auctions). Only Type 9 remains. (When sorting, always select whole sheet, then deselect the top row with field names)

3) Sort spreadsheet by Label (or by Title) ascending, Price ascending, Purchases ascending. This sorting ensures that duplicate listings are one after another and listing with most sales is last.

4) Insert new column "Duplicate" and use formula on row 2 (first data record): =AND(B2=B3;J2=J3), where B column is field Label/Title and J column is field Price. If you have these fields in different columns, use your column letters. Propagate the formula to all rows. We are comparing with next record by SKU (or title) and price and if the same, result is 1 or TRUE

Use Auto-Filter on the new Duplicate field to see them.

Order your listings in a store Highest first.

and the duplicates will show up.

I did that with another bookseller's store.

Found many duplicates... Same listing... different ID numbers... different end times.

contacted seller... and finally that seller believed me.

Had 14,000 listings in a store.

after duplicates removed seller had close to 11,000 listings.

Order the store on the basis of highest to lowest in your store.

With a premium store you have selling Manager.... order the listings by price... and find the duplicates... end one of each duplicate... end them by the page.
