I am eBay member from 2004.
Feedback is only tool that allows Buyers to determine how they can trust Seller. That`s why all Sellers really care about their feedback score. But sometimes Buyers negative feedbacks not actually shows real situation and made by emotions, mood, by personal attitudes, by limited experience in something etc. Everybody can understand what I mean telling about. Seller and Buyer usually discuss about problem but only feedback and other side reply records are visible for another people who want to deal with Seller.
My suggestion to eBay is to make additional, might be special space for Seller and Buyer discussion about the problem and let potential Buyers make a right decision about Seller (or Buyer) themselves. Small space in feedback doesn`t allow to put detailed claim or reply to make clear the situation.
I had 100% feedback for years and usually get very nice feedbacks from my Buyers. Recently I sold GPS and Buyer left negative feedback claiming that power adapter wasn`t original even he got better replacement one and it was clearly shown on my pictures. I tried to solve the problem ( even it is not actually problem) but he had never answer.
First, I quess eBay should cancel negative feedback if it not replied by Buyer after Seller start discussion and try to resolve a problem situation. Let`s say in 2 weeks time frame.
Second, make a special space for Buyer-Seller discussion and make it VISIBLE for potential Buyers or Sellers to make own decision.
Third, Buyer who usually gives negative feedbacks due to probably special personality has to be recognized by Sellers in order to avoid problems in future in dealing with them.
Thanks

Learn to ignore FB. eBay, more and more, is marginalizing it. It is a mere shadow of what it once was.
It is non-sustainable as a framework of evaluating someone. It is beyond repair. I suspect it will end up merely as a counter for how many widgets an individual has bought and sold.

The reason that NFB is so horrible is because there is something about getting trashed in writing on a public forum that gets people right to the core.
It's the same dynamics going on when teen-agers go at each other on FaceBook etc.
There we call it bullying, and sometimes it results in suicide.
On eBay we call it rating a seller's performance.
For good sellers it does nothing but punish them needlessly. I serves no good purpose.
However, it's very very effective for keeping sellers in line.
For some reason it works, but when all is said and done (as long as it's not so bad your status as a seller is in ?) FB only has the power you give it.........
Take that away, and it can't hurt you.
