negative feedback from potential buyer

I gave negative feedback to a potential buyer for a transaction that went wrong.  He wanted out and his reasons were faulty.  Thus he countered with negative feedback, has brought it up with eBay, and is writing me tomes 'educating' me.

I thought feedback was about how one felt a transaction went.  I felt this transaction went horribly wrong.  (it did end up being cancelled)  Am I wrong in voicing my opinion?

negative feedback from potential buyer

Sellers do not have the ability to leave a negative feedback. What you did, is leave a positive feedback with a negative comment on it.

If the buyer were to report you to ebay, that feedback would be removed.

In the eyes of ebay, you are wrong.

He wanted out and his reasons were faulty.

So what?

He doesn’t want the item and he wants to keep his money.

The seller should refund the entire payment promptly (before shipping or on receipt of the returned item). It is not necessary to leave feedback.

The negative feedback looks ugly on your page, but it is much less important than the Detailed Seller Ratings that the unhappy buyer left. If your DSRs drop below 4.3 eBay will restrict your ability to list and to sell.

Because the false positive you left is also ungrammatical, you seem to be agreeing with the buyer that you were in the wrong "seller broke...contract"

"I gave negative feedback to a potential buyer "

You can't leave feedback for potential buyers, only actual buyers.

You left feedback that states "seller broke ebay buyer's contract". You know you're the seller right? So you admit in feedback that you broke the contract. I don't know a lot about Gucci but how could you prove the item is not a fake without the maker's mark?
