I really prefer to have my listings posted for 7 to 10 days - I find the 30 day listings &/or Good Til cancelled don't work for most of my items as the interest definitely disappears after the first couple of weeks - my listings seem to be good for the first 10-12 days & then there is so very little interest, so few views that it seems such a waste & pointless to have the items listed beyond 2 weeks. I don't have a store so do rely on the free monthly listings & any free listing promos but do wish that if eBay is going to give us free listing promos that they give us choice of duration. I look forward to my free 50 listings each month for the very reason that I have choice of duration.

With the current 10,000 free listings (assuming you were invited), you could experiment.
Select a bunch of your 30 day listings that are getting old and do a bulk End.
Then select the closed listings and do a bulk Relist to restart them.
When doing it in bulk you can also do some minor modifications at the same time.

I've also had the same experience when trying 30 day listings (fixed price). Views fade after a week or so. In my opinion, the longer duration gives too much time for potential buyers to think about purchasing or wait for another seller to list it cheaper. Basically there's much less urgency, so you lose the impulse buyer in the case of fixed price.

Got the "Save 20% on final value fees" promo, but did not get the free listings promo

but did not get the free listings promo
Actually you did.
You could have 10, 000 listings Free if you list in Canadian dollars.
This promotion is promoting the new policy of selling on eBayCanada in Canadian dollars.
Since you are selling valuable and bulky items that require parcel rate shipping and tracking, you are probably going to continue on eBay Canada to have Canada Post Calculated Shipping available?
By August, you will find all your US dollar items ended and if you want them to continue on dotCA, you will have to change them then.
Might as well start now.
(There is a Migration Tool, but it is bad for your blood pressure.)

A short question as I run into this also, 30 days too long , no more than 15 days. I can't do bulk edit or anything as I have a Mac How do I end the listings before 30 days without getting a default strike? I list fixed price 99.9% of the time.
Thanks for any info.

You do not get a defect for ending an unsold fixed price listing.
i don't have a Mac but I'm sure that you should still be able to end your listings using my eBay or selling manager. On selling manager e check off each listing, click on action - end listing. It may be slightly different when using my eBay.
Are you sure that bulk edit is not available on a Mac? Im sure that mj uses it on her Mac.

Thanks for your quick reply. Ebay doesn't do much to support Mac. We all know their IT and lack of I was concerned about any defects. I won't even go into my experience last week of being on the phone with the CS dept for a total of 7.5 hrs in one day. One of the highlights was them telling me and them getting mad stating part of my lack of sales was because I was a CDN resident and shouldn't be reg. on dot com, in fact how did I do that ..... explained signed up before dot ca was invented ... CS though there was always both. The 7.5 hours didn't end on a pleasant note. LOL

For me using a desktop (I'm sure mobile devices give a different experience):
Under "My eBay: All Selling"
I have an "Active Listings" section with a check box next to each listing (left side) and a selection of actions I can take at the top of the section that I can apply to those listings I check off.
I can
- Add Note : allows you to have a note for the item(s), I use it to track where things are listed (CA/COM), plus reminders to make improvements, and whatever else seem useful to jog the seller memory brain cells.
- Edit / Sell Similar / Send to On-line Auction : all bulk operations
- Add to List : allows to add the item to a list, haven't figured out why you would use that for items you are selling
- End : this allows you to end the BIN listing(s) you selected
...
I have a "Unsold" section:
Like above I can select listing(s) and choose an action to do in bulk. Like Relist.
