I just read on a post that there is a difference between a store subscription opened on ebay.com and ebay.ca?
I guess I opened mine on ebay.com because I have been charged the subscription fee in USD converted to CDN for years thinking that was the way it was.
Is there a way to get the subscription fee rate in CDN, the new anchor rate is brutal when converted in CDN.
thanks

Yes but it is tricky.
You need to close your eBay store on eBay.com. There will be a penalty if you have a twelve month contract and it may be best to wait until the end or near the end of the annual contract. Also best to close the store on eBay.com when sales and listings are slow.
Then, the next day, re-open on eBay.ca
It sounds so easy but it is not. While the listings do not change - they remain on the same site and in the same currency as listed - you may lose the links to the store categories and have to re-instate them manually. Been there, done that, it is painful.

As another consideration, are there not some features available to US stores only too?
For example I have a .COM store. I am able to use Advertising - AKA "Promoted Listings" (you pay a portion of the sale for the item to be promoted above other items) which I think is only available on .COM now right? That is generating sales and I get a $25 rebate each quarter for that.
Of course if you have a .COM store you get the coupon nobody can use syndrome still though....

Ebay.ca has no Promotions Manager or Promoted Listings, only Markdown Manager.

I now have a store on eBay.ca I have been invited to the Promoted listings by eBay.com
It is not a store feature. It is available to invited eBay.com registered sellers (mostly Americans with a few Canadians (legacy users) who registered on eBay.com prior to 2001).

thanks.
I had a feeling it was not going to be simple.
Is there a grace period without penalty to close the ebay store because of the price changes?
I will call ebay to see if anything can be done.

According to the FAQ on the .com spring update, store subscribers have up until June 4 to change or cancel their subscription.
Sellers with an annual subscription have 60 days after the Seller Release (June 5th) to change their Store level without a penalty. You may also cancel your store subscription without incurring early termination fees - if they applied. Please contact eBay customer service to change your subscription level.

The same info on the .com update mentions that you have until June 4th to make the change.

I just made the change to the Canadian store, and YOU CANT open in the day after you close the .com store. You have to wait until the END date of the subscription passes. Just becasue you close the store it doesnt just shut down right away, ther eis a waiting period. So in my case I closed mine around the 20th of May and I had to wait until June 1 (which is from what I guess the pro rated period that I have already paid for) at that time June 1 I was able to open the .ca store.
It was easy to open it on the Canadian site after it finally **bleep** down, didnt lose my categories or anything, was easy. And 300CAD is a lot different then 300USD converted totally agree, thought i was always paying in Canadian but just clued in thank god since the dollar is horrid lately, before it wasn't much of an issue.

thanks for the info.... bad timing on my part, I canceled the store but will have to re-open on .ca july 1st.
Needed it to be done before the grace period is over.
I clearly have so much to learn on ebay even after 15 years selling! arg
