tracked packet

Just wondering if tracked packet is available to everyone now.  I have yet to see the option show on any item I have shipped.  I have not really wanted it until this latest parcel,  Can anyone say for sure if the dimensions requirments are the same as the small packet maximums?

I got noticed that Tracked Packet prices calculated on paypal shipping is based on the dimensions of the parcel rather than weight.

These are the calculated prices I got from paypal shipping

24x16x4 250grams = 13.93

30x20x10 250grams = 16.78

Also I didn't notice earlier but for Tracked Packet's maximum dimensions of 'length, width, and height' combined is 60cm.

Compared to Small Packet's maximum combined dimensions are 90cm.

Who should we be emailing to let them know about this error?

I received a followup email Friday morning April 19 from Kalvin at eBay.com saying that the problem is being worked on and will be fixed as soon as possible.

Oh please, I'm yanking his chain. He knows that

Inuk,

I realize that. Read my post:

...your finding was a revelation to Inuk....not.

But Pierre, by referring to "testing" a shipment, made it sound like he was carrying out a great experiment.

What I try to do is draw the attention of eBayers - new and old - to what I consider questionable practices by Canada Post, in this case, a zonal pricing scheme for the US, a country that happens to border Canada but is nevertheless foreign. It wasn't always thus. I forget when CP introduced the scheme but it wasn't that long ago (10 years? More?). Postal agreements between countries are very much tit-for-tat or quid pro quo, but the USPS didn't follow suit. Why not? God knows, they could use the extra revenue. And as I say, I know of no other country that employs such a scheme.

eBayers are quick to complain about CP's high rates but they seem to accept their dodgy policies. Maybe it's the Canadian way.

We know that.  You are trying to make a political point against Canada Post.

Most folks do not really care.

Canadian eBay users - folks reading these boards - find it more relevant to know how much does it actually costs and what are the options than the rhetoric behind the policies governing CP pricing. You do not approve of it, that is your right. But it no reason to make it "personal" when other posters concentrate on facts, not theory or politics.

Politics? Rhetoric? Personal?

Where do you get that idea? What has any of this to do with pointing out flaws, inconsistencies and inequities in Canada Post's pricing?

I'll agree with you one point, Pierre. It does seem that most folks don't care.

They don't care that CP charges different rates for identical mail pieces transmitted by identical means.

They don't care that CP limits Small Packets to USA to 1 kg when the limit is 2 kg to every other country in the world.

They don't care that CP decrees that the cheapest service for parcels to USA weighing >1 kg is Expedited Parcel.

They don't care that CP is the only postal system in the world to tack on a fuel surcharge on Parcel mail.

They don't care that CP is the only postal system in the world to operate a zonal pricing system for Parcels to a foreign country and to levy a fuel surcharge on those parcels, which are carried for the bulk of their journey by a carrier in that country (i.e. CP subsidizes the USPS).
