You do realize that the Hot List is not just the items that are selling well, but also the items that are in strong supply.
If there are 10000 items listed and 1000 sell, there are 9000 still available to the 20 people who still want it. Do you want to be one of the 8980 sellers who don't get the sale?
If there are 10 items listed and 10 sell, your new listing will attract the 20 people who must have it. There is a lot to be said for unusual and unique items.
