The PayPal User Agreement requires sellers to accept all PayPal payment methods (including echecks):

You can avoid echecks for your BIN listings by enabling Immediate Payment Required:

It may just be your demographic. Are your customers likely to be the kind of guys who mistrust newfangled ideas like credit cards?

Unfortunately, Immediate Payment does not block buyers who are using e-cheques. And to be fair, most do not realize that their payment is going to take about 10 days to clear two banking systems.

You could politely let them know. "Thank you for your prompt payment. Your Paypal account is backed by your bank account and clearance will take about 10 business days. We will ship immediately by Canada Post when the 'e-cheque' clears.'"If they contact you about this, you can let them know that PP will not allow them to print their shipping label until the e-cheque clears. And do use that 'foreign' spelling to remind the customer that you are across the border in Canada.

If they are still upset, commiserate, and then let them know that if they use their credit card to back the PP payment, not only is the payment truly instant (which is what PP is telling them about the bank -backed payment) but they will have a second rank of protection through their credit card's Buyer Protection plan in addition to PP's Buyer Protection.

Cause you're a great guy and on your customer's side against the nasty profiteers at PP.

I couldn't find any info on the eBay.ca Help pages, but hopefully it works the same on the Canadian site:

Because immediate payment is required, an eCheck is not an acceptable form of payment for these listings since it takes some time to clear.
