Hello 'craiburgo',
<<ebay is a safe haven for currupt, dishonest, sellers . . . many sellers bait their customers with a good deal on gold

Many? How many?
This is about that gold coin you bought but were mailed loonies instead, isn't it. You're right, that is disgusting.
It is actually pretty rare to encounter a scammer like the one you bought from, but just about everyone stumbles on to
one when they're new to ebay.
The first thing a shopper must do when looking at a listing is read the whole thing from top to bottom. All your seller
wrote was something to the effect of '1 troy ounce', -- and when you are spending a lot of money, that really isn't enough
information to entice you to buy.
Next, you want to look at a seller's feedback. The numbers themselves don't mean much, but you want to click on his
"Feedback as a seller" tab. At the moment your seller, in spite of having a feedback of 108, actually only has a Seller
Feedback of 2, -- both negatives about receiving loonies instead of the '1 troy ounce gold coin' they bought.
There is no redeeming such an atrocity. When you see that on a seller of allegedly gold coins, keep your thousand bucks
to yourself and find a demonstrably reputable seller. Ebay is full of first rate sellers of coins, - just look at their feedback.

Does this mean you have not filed a claim to get your money back? If you want restitution, you must do so, -- leaving a
negative will not result in a refund by itself. If you have not already found the ebay Help page about what to do, see the
following link:
http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/item-not-received.html#doesntmatch
If ever you miss the ebay deadlines, not to worry, -- you have 180 days to file a claim through paypal:
https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#13
If, however, you need to call ebay about an issue, the way to do it is by clicking the Help & Contact link at the top of the
page, and then clicking your way through to the Call Us phone number and pass code. I find choosing the 'feedback'
options work best (or at least quickest) because ebay makes it difficult to call at all.
For now, file your claim and get your money back. And in future, choose your sellers very carefully.
Best of luck
