Exorbitant Sipping Costs

I purchased an item from a seller in Israel and she had originally stated that he would only sell to the US......  I asked him if he would send to Canada he said yes and would calculate the charges......  When the final invoice was sent to me it was  exorbitant......

The cost of the item was $1.04 and the cost of the shipping was $50.00......  When questioned about it all of a sudden he could not speak English......

He then relisted the items and they have been sold again.......

Rule of thumb - don't bid/buy until you know what cost of shipping will be - else you may get burned badly.

Ask seller to confirm cost before you bid. If they can't, or don't reply, move on.

When a seller states he will not ship to Canada, assume that he will not ship to Canada or will passively/aggressively make the shipping cost so high that no sane Canadian would bid.

He didn't want to ship to you. He probably doesn't care over $1.04.

The seller has now stated that he did not want to sell his items for less than $50.00 and he also thought they were worth more so even though he started the auction at a low he intended to make up the difference between what they sold for and what he thought they were worth in his shipping charges.......

"seller has now stated that he did not want to sell his items for less than $50.00.."

Then the seller should have used Buy Now with Best Offer or set a Reserve bid.

However, does not change the fact you bid on something without knowing the shipping cost. I don't condone his price-gouging on the shipping - just saying never bid on an item when you don't know what cost is.

Some seller ship to Canada only with priority - An item worth $25 might have a $35 priority shipping cost.  Not worth it IMO.
