Scammed by the_techshak on computer years ago. Sold HDD instead of SSD. Not allowed to complain.

Bought a computer (Item 15383758777)  with a supposed 500GB solid state drive (SSD). Ran into problems years later and found out that I was actually sold a regular hard disk NOT a SSD when I opened the computer. I can't do anything not even complain to Ebay or leave feedback anymore. It is unfair that I never received the actual item I bought.

Please open your computers and check everything because of scammers or resellerss who don't check their products. For hard disks check the C drive in Task Manager. Hopefully people who read this don't get ripped off like I did.

You only had 30 days to dispute the transaction with eBay all those years ago.

You may have had up to 180 days to dispute with Paypal or your credit card.

You could also make a claim with the manufacturer, but most manufacturers don't honour warranties on products which are not sold by an authorized dealer.

But, it sounds as if the product worked fine for years until recently.

How old is the computer?
We recently had to replace a laptop that was only eleven years old, and a dryer that was nearly of voting age.

"Ran into problems year later"...

I guess you never thought of running System Diagnostics on Windows? That's the first thing I run after buying an used/refurbished laptop.

You have 30 days from the time of the delivery to open a return. eBay has one of the most buyer friendly return policies online. If you buy something and don't believe it was accurately described for any reason, the seller is obligated to cover the costs of the return or provide you with an alternate solution that you approve of (like a partial refund).

In this case, you could have verified the specs of the computer as soon as you received it. Looking at the seller's store, I suspect that they sell liquidation/return tech items. They may have used a listing template tied to that SKU that had incorrect spec. It would have been very easy to point this out to them and negotiate a partial refund (or open a return). Whether they would take responsibiliy for it, nobody knows, but there was a clear and easy mechanism for you to resolve the issue.

Years later would be excessive to complain. At that point, the listing isn't even archived on eBay's website so even if the seller would be open to providing you with some sort of remedy, they don't even have a way to confirm the original specs.

The take away would be only buy tech if you are willing to gamble on it not including service or a warranty beyond the 30 day buyer protection, and to make a reasonable effort to check items when you first receive them.

@agri7565 "Ran into problems years later"

Seriously?

Shame on you for NOT doing YOUR proper due diligence as a Buyer all those "years" ago when you purchased this item and had a few resources to rectify the issue.

But, instead, you decide to "rant" about it years later having used it without issue, we call this "Sour Milk".
