do  a little research on shipping times for small packages from asian countries.. there is a huge back log, plus a ton of other reasons for items not arriving in a timely manner.. But getting a refund is the right thing to do, do not accept an offer to resend an item..  and when and if an item shows up late, do the right thing and repay the seller.. you can do that by going into your paypal account and getting the seller's information..

Are you posing the question as a seller, or as a buyer?

Posting as a buyer. Lately can't seem to get anything from ebay. If items were shipped, I would eventually get them, but I never do. Does a seller have the ability to stop a shipment once it's on the way, or was the item never shipped in the first place? Frustrating. i resorted to buying everything I can from Amazon. 2 days at my door step. Problem is, some items not available from Amazon.

You must be ordering from merchants in Asia. Items shipped from Europe or the USA will come within about three weeks maximum and, of course, domestic Canadian sellers will get them to you the fastest. Most of mine are delivered in three days or less.

Most sellers (and buyers ) are honest.

But there is a small percentage.

The change from 60 days from purchase to 30 days after last estimated date for delivery as the deadline for eBay disputes, seems to have allowed some (particularly Asian) scammers the chance to list vapourware,  ship nothing, schmooze unhappy buyers past the eBay deadline or refund the ones who do file.

If your costs are limited to some eBay and PP fees, and you keep even half the money you take in , you can do pretty well I guess.

The best defense is a good offense.

  • Keep track of the last estimated date for delivery.
  • Open the Item Not Received Dispute promptly.
  • Don't accept offers of a 'replacement' (which won't arrive)
  • Don't close the Dispute until you have either the item or a refund.

The scammers get away with it because sensible buyers understand that shipping from overseas is slow.

The other way of getting what you ordered promptly is to be willing to forego 'cheap' in favour of 'arrival'. Be willing to pay more for Air Mail and Tracked shipping or order the (Asian -made) item from a North American seller with a short arrival period.

It's easy to be fooled. I ordered some ribbon for my Agent Carter cosplay on August first, which was not shipped by the American seller until August ninth, and still has not arrived on the 26th. I strongly suspect it of coming from Thailand, where the only other seller of that ribbon is located. I may be leaving red feedback.

And the ribbon sellers have refunded.

I strongly suspect vapourware, but we'll see what's in the mailbox when we get home Tuesday.

Today we are working the British North American Philatelic Society Convention in Calgary.

ribbon for my Agent Carter cosplay

I think I understand the words,(I think, I have only encountered 'cosplay' on Japanese porn sites) It's the mental image I have a problem with.  🙂
