What Really Is The Problem eBay, With The Erlanger GSC?

I just got a confirmation that one of my items has shipped out FROM the Erlanger center, and is on it's way to the international destination (my address in Vancouver BC Canada). That item showed up at the center on the 18th of Aug, and the new notification is from the 24th, so that's pretty good, by all standards, I guess, under the circumstances.

I have another item that arrived at the center on the 8th of Aug, and is still in Limbo. I'm not willing to give up on this item just yet, BUT, what is the REAL issue eBay? get this stuff sorted out. Like now!

What Really Is The Problem eBay, With The Erlanger GSC?

What really is the problem, is, the lack of information supplied to the seller/buyer when a shipment is "Stuck" for en extended period of time at the Erlanger GSP center. What is happening to the package between:

Customs Documentation and Labeling Erlanger, US Aug 26, 3:00 AM

Processing at the Global Shipping Center Erlanger, US Aug 26, 2:07 AM

Arrived at the Global Shipping Center Erlanger Aug 7, 11:56 PM

Yes that's all fine and dandy, in hindsight, and knowing that we are in a pandemic condition which affords us the patience to wait 19 days without updates (just for this stage alone), but what would go a long way in curbing anxiety would be a simple message to sellers/buyers within that period (at the PB tracking site), that the item is "stopped for ___X___ reason, please be patient" That would go a really long way. It's not lost, it's not stuck due to customs, or prohibition, it's just stopped due to backlog, simple as that. Or one of the other reasons items gets stuck at the facility for extended periods of time.

Like if there's a customs clearance issue, like, is the item allowed in Canada? Why can't we know this as a flagged item, Seriously? It's a fridge compressor. Seriously?

if there's a customs clearance issue,

Knowing whether a particular item can be imported is the importer's responsibility, not the exporter (seller) or the shipper.
Note however that the shipper may be sub-contracted by CBSA to assess shipments for duty and sales tax. I would assume that would also flag items that cannot legally be imported to Canada.

Again.

You were given a window for delivery.

Until that window closes, you can't open an eBay Dispute.

You can open a Paypal dispute for the 180 days from Payment.

The GSP is specifically NOT meant for businesses, which is why they do not provide the actual amount paid for duty and sales taxes. The importer is paying a fee to GSP/PB which is large enough to cover the costs of duty and sales taxes, but these are actually paid by GSP/PB.

This is all very interesting and all, but could an item be flagged as "not allowed" as an import to Canada, never to be known by the buyer, for why the item never showed up, through the eBay GSP? That is as an end-user/consumer non-versed (nor wanting to be) in the technicalities of import/export. As you said it is the responsibility of the seller to know this AHEAD of time before ever considering to export to....say Canada? So I'll assume this item is acceptable and the LIMBO-ness of this item at the Erlanger center is for some other reason. This item is 2 days past due for estimated delivery. Like I said I'm not giving up on this delivery, but it's 16 days lost in the mystical world of Erlanger limbo

Wow, there's no getting around the literary ethics police here, is there? lol

You can fix suggestive text lickity split, but you (eBay) can't fix the communications from Erlanger center and the GSP's lack of REAL solid information to the community, for why items are in limbo, past due, or whatever they are in. The whole community is more helpful then eBay with regards to speculative reasons. But really, we're all in the dark, aren't we?

No.

It is the responsibility of the importer. The Buyer. to know the policies of his own country.

The exporter/seller is not required to know the policies of any other country.

There are 178 countries in the Universal Postal Union.

While most sellers don't ship to all of them, you should be able to imagine the difficulty in knowing whether the items you sell can be imported.

This item is 2 days past due for estimated delivery.

Open the Not Received Dispute.

Be sure to state that this is a GSP shipment, so responsibility taken by a GSP specialist.

When you get your refund, you can reorder the part from the seller, if she is willing to ship by a service you find more acceptable.

FWIW- the Boards are monitored by Lithium who sub-contract the job from eBay.

GSP is another sub-contractor dealing with shipping.

EBay hired them both.

Well, to me that's just plain wrong. For the importer/buyer to be versed in all things importable to their country. That being said. I've never had any import issues with anything ordered through eBay or any other supplier outside of Canada, ever. Anyways, this item can't be an import issue, it something else. My initial point was, why can't eBay/PB inform us of what is the status with an item that is late or approaching late. It can be done, and absolutely should be done.
