Probably just the asking price. Every listing has a minimum price under which the seller does not want to sell.
It is also possible that you and another bidder were bidding at the same moment and yours was both first,by a second or so, and highest. There is a list of bids received, link is next to the current price. Your name, by the way, is masked to everyone but you, just as the names of all other bidders is masked to you.
