I am absolutely gobsmacked ! That hymn has been going through my head lately - And as I scrolled back to see which hymn was being referred to - I just knew it was going to be that one ! It's one of my favourites, along with,

He who would valiant be ’gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
There’s no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.

Who so beset him round with dismal stories
Do but themselves confound - his strength the more is.
No foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fight,
He will make good his right to be a pilgrim.

Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit,

I like most of all poetry. Mostly the older stuff. Well okay maybe I do favor English poets come to think of it. When I was a teenager I used to write poetry. LOL!!!didn't we all???
I used to write it using a calligraphy pen too and a bottle of ink. Yah had to go all out didn't I? LOL!!!
I remember that thread. I added a poem to it. Yes a poem thread would be great!
I'll add some poetry to it. I'll dig up all the poetry books I have stored away......

How true, I have always enjoyed listening to hymns. All types from Ave Maria to Southern style joyous gospel. When I attended my neice's wedding in England just recently, it was a Church of England (Anglican) ceremony. She chose the nicest hymns - even had a really nice reading from Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and ended another fave - prob not over here though

England has a beautiful countryside. I worked with a guy who was from England. I always bugged him with questions about his homeland. So interesting. Such beautiful history.

WHAT a thrill it must have been to have witnessed a wedding in an old English cathedral, Marion! Lordy, do they ever have the best pipe organs, eh? :)

Oh, it was really nice - it was held in Hampshire - the church was decorated so beautifully. - There were about 150 guests, and I think because they were popular hymns, everyone sang most heartily, and the choir was terrific. - The Reverand's name was Michael Jackson (big laugh) And sea I was raised in London, and mostly saw the Kent and Hertfordshire countryside. - Hampshire was beautiful, Winchester Cathedral was magnificent - and the New Forest something else. My neice presently lives in Hong Kong, but when they go back to the UK, tghey have bought a house in Easton, Hampshire - Lucky girl.
