"Death by girdle":-D

Closing down early--DD's birthday--and we attempted a surprise, but then she had to take one baby to the Dr. for a recheck and needed babysitting for the other so she dropped in. Still, it all went well and I think birthday girl had a nice dinner--just hope that she didn't notice her hurried up dear mother had blue socks on with her black slacks!

Glad work is going well, Julie.

There has been so much talk on the board lately about faith and the existence of God vs. no God and us just being a cosmic accident. I just wanted to share a few personal thoughts.

I remember back when I was 10. I remember being so sick. I remember having to lay over my father's lap as he pounded on my back trying to clear my lungs. I remember not being able to go to school for over 3 months. I remember sleeping in a little bed across the hall from my parents room. I remember the voices coming from the living room down below. Voices in prayer. I am alive...

How can I say there is no God.

Later at the age of 13 I was returning from a weekend field trip. I was met at the school by the wife of our Pastor. She told me my parents and grandparents had been in a car accident but that everyone was okay. When I arrived at the house the car (a station wagon) was parked in the driveway. The driver's side of the car was completely sheared off like someone had run it through a huge saw. My father had been driving from Edmonton to Dawson Creek. The road was covered in a light powder of snow. He was approaching a semi that was kicking up a small blizzard behind it. Just before the semi passed a pickup pulled out from behind and struck my parents car. My Dad told me that it was like someone took the wheel from his hand. The car had taken a severe hit but never wavered. It just coasted until it came to a stop. No one was hurt with the exception of my Dad biting his tongue.

How can I say there is no God.

Fifteen years ago I was on my way back from town with my two kids. I had to make a left hand turn on the highway. I glanced in my rearview mirror and spotted a car quite a ways back. There was a vehicle approaching me in the other direction so I had to come to a complete stop to let it pass. I glanced in the rearview mirror again to see that the vehicle was almost directly behind me and not slowing down. The driver, at the last moment hit the brakes and tried to get around me but clipped the back of my car. The momentum of the impact spun my car into the oncoming traffic. The car ended up facing the opposite direction on the shoulder of the road. The driver of the oncoming vehicle helped me to get the kids out of the car. He told me he was sure he was going to broadside my car. He had even closed his eyes waiting for the hit. How those two cars missed is still a mystery to him but not to me.

I know there is a God.

Thank you amamused:-x What a wonderful post to wake up too. Yes there is a God.....:-x

A priest and pastor from the local parishes are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!"
They planned to hold up the sign to each passing car.
"Leave us alone you religious nuts!" yelled the first driver as he sped by.
From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash. "Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says 'Bridge Out' instead?";-)

LOVELY testimony, Lucie! I pray it will convict hearts today!

Not just "a" God, but THE God...the One and Only! Prince of Peace, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords! The Alpha and the Omega! And He shall reign forever and ever, Amen!

Things may not miraculousy happen to everyone. I don't know or would even dare to question why God does what he does. I do feel sadness for people who have no faith. Without faith there is no hope or comfort in bad times.

I think miracles happen every day. They're happening all around us. I love that song "Ordinary Miracles". 🙂

At my age, it's a miracle I'm still breathing. :^O

Lucie, I feel the same way, just so sad for people with no Faith. I think Julie is right, there are lots of small miracles every day--we just don't recognize them.

I thank God for the miracles in your life.

Hi all...May I please request your prayers today for my mum-in-law? She suffered a minor stroke this morning. She is stubborn and refused to go to the ER, so sis-in-law took her to her regular doc who diagnosed her, gave her a prescrition, and...

...sent her home! Argh! What was she thinking? Mum lives alone and is disoriented and hallucinating. Hubs is staying with her tonight, but sheesh - he's on pins and needles wondering is she'll have a major one!

Thanks!
:)

Oh no! So sorry to hear that Julie -- your hubby must be worried sick about her. I don't know what it is these days with doctors but they're so reluctant to admit anyone to hospital and if you have surgery, they tried to send you home either the same day or the very next day, without even bothering to inquire whether there's anyone that can take care of you. :-(

Oh my, what a night! Not much sleep around here. Hubs phoned @ 3:00 a.m. to tell me that Mum was walking around upstairs - with her lighter - in a flamable nightie...ugh! - becuase she couldn't find the hall lightswitch.

Hubs had put a nightlight in the hall and in her bathroom, but she's complaining that she can't see. Of course, this scared him to hear, so he tried giving her some vision tests. Alas, she was soooo mentally out of it. He took her to the bathroom, then put her back in bed.

He phones again at 6:00 a.m. She's had another stroke. She can't speak or move. I phoned his sisters and they called an ambulance. Paramedics took her to the ER. She didn;t even fight them, which she absolutely would have had she been in her right mind. Hubs says this is it...she will probably not survive the weekend. 😞

Of course, I feel so helpless since I can't be there...got the little one at home here. She's so close to her G-ma that we have to keep things "normal" for her until we hear otherwise from the hospital.

I'm going on adreneline and prayer, downing pots of coffee until the phone rings again. Gonna phone one of her playmate's parents to see if they can take her so I can get to the hospital.

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. Please continue them!

Prior, I can't make out your gif pic, but it looks like praying hands with something going up from them. I'm gonna think positive and say that you are trying to be supportive, which is very kind of you, thank you.

Lucie...yes! I get that feeling, too. I'm not sure what actons we will take should Mum survive but be incapacitated from this stroke. I'm sure assisted living arrangements will have to be made. Problem is, the youngest sister has POA and won't invoke it against Mum's wishes, and her wishes have always been: no nursing homes. Ugh, what a predicament.

Shirley...thank you. luv. Knew I could count on you for prayers and support. Bless you.
