Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place of rest and safety!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

This is a statement that was read over the PA System at the football game at Roane County High School, Kingston, Tennessee, by school Principal, Jody McLeod...

"It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country.

Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law.

As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it 'an alternate lifestyle,' and if someone is offended, that's OK.

"I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, 'safe sex' and if someone is offended, that's OK.

"I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a 'viable! means of birth control.' If someone is offended, no problem...

"I can designate a school day as 'Earth Day' and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess 'Mother Earth' and call it 'ecology.'

"I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as 'simple minded' and 'ignorant' and call it 'enlightenment.'

"However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated.

"This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical. Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.

"Nevertheless, as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical... I
suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.

"For this reason, I shall 'Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's,' and refrain from praying at this time.

"However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM, in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so. As far as I know, that's not against the law----yet."

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands.

They prayed in the team huddles.

They prayed at the concession stand.

And they prayed in the Announcer's Box!

The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America - the Seat of "Justice" in the "One Nation, Under GOD."

Somehow, Kingston, Tennessee remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion. Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!

Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of ME before men, then I will be ashamed of you before MY FATHER."

Much of the beauty we find in nature
Appears as the result of dramatic changes:

Glaciers carved out majestic mountain ranges;
Volcanoes produced breathtaking beaches and;
Thunderstorms return precious moisture to the earth.

Even fruit trees must sometimes be severely pruned
In order to make them stronger and more productive.

So too it might be God's plan for us -
to experience dramatic changes in our lives
In order to become the people He intends us to be.

Dear friend, if your life is being "pruned" now,
Although it is painful,
It just may be God's way of making you stronger.

I wish you strength to accept the challenge
And God's gentle love to guide you.

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeing so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

((((Julie)))) You find wonderful things to post.

One of those "not so perfect" days for a mother--nothing horrendous, but far too many phone calls involved. I find it exhausting at my age.

I met an author today, having to hawk his own book--I like mysteries and this author worked undercover for the RCMP for 20 years so I actually bought a new book! (I am a little ummmmm thrifty, so I usually buy books used now that we are on pensions.)

I logged on so I could vote for Bud. Now I am going to get DH some raspberries and cream, then head for bed with my new book.

My sisters and brothers, I hope you have at least an island of time to enjoy God's blessings in your life tomorrow. Sleep well.:-x

Hiya Nik! ((HUGS))) to you re: your parenting woes. Being a mom never ends, even when they move away. I'm sure your kind, gentle wisdom - and lotsa prayer! - will do the trick. :-x

Enjoy that book! Sounds fascinating! I'm sure the author drew on many of his own personal experiences, which makes the book all the more interesting! I do love a good mystery!

Sleep well! 🙂

HI all...just lazing away here (well I am completely bored). I am heading down to the beach soon - I need to wait until the sun is over a bit - so I am catching up on all the errands, business type phone calls etc. Tonight we are going out for dinner to a very nice seafood place...grilled Georgian Bay whitefish..YUM. They have the lobster flown in every other day - but the cousins are going to the maritimes in another week are are bringing some back.

So I am saying Hi and hope all is well from cottage country.

MLM..soon for the tea - just email my and let me know. 🙂 (The same with Rama) ________

I don't know much about religion but...

...science proves the bible!!

(After all the One who Authored the bible also Authored (is the Source of) science! 😉 )

There are many examples of scientific facts in the bible which have not been able to be proved until relatively recently... because science had to "catch up"!! LOL 😉 :^O

Hey Tom....good to read ya...long time no see.

Yup I got a giggle out of that science/religion post also. Usually from people who do not keep up with either.

Actually spent a portion of the day discussing this very subject in the field with some one. Enjoyed the conversation. Touching on quantum mechanics and some of the newer theories on the structure of the cosmos. He is relatively up to date on some of the science in this area so we had a great discussion. He thinks the same as myself and is very open to the leading edge of knowledge.

Also we were looking at some geological formations and how they related to the larger landscape we work in. We were dealing with some coastal erosion issues and were making predictions on the rate of change to be expected in a certain area. This will weigh heavily on some decisions we must make very soon on a particular development project.

A second project also dealing with coastal change is impacting an important aquculture operation but we also have 13 members of a rare and globally endangered species on site and were attempting to determine impacts on all the factors involved with the various senerios we were examining. Of cource time is of the essance in this case (always is it seems) and decisions must be made within days. And we have 3 days of rain in the forecast which will add greatly to the situtation as the salinity of the water body is decreasing with fresh water input (thus the risk to the aquaculture - shell fish - operation increases - they have lost over a million shell fish at this point). This particular operation is important, as it is desease free and provides the spat for operations in many locations.
The scientists we are working with are divided on their advice so leads to great fun - not - as our team must make the ultimate decisions. And I get to play referee between the biologists...well at least the geologists are all talking in the same direction. LOL. Oh yes and this site is a legislated protected site so must walk through that minefield also.

Anyway.

Got something for you. Enjoy.
